With our large library of square and round diamond roll rotary dressers, we have the ability to produce forms that are difficult to achieve and challenging to machine. In addition to straight, multi-angle, and off-set grooves and threads, we have the ingenuity to transition multiple angular forms into radius grooves and threads. MOLDING CORE GRINDING
Since 1976, B & R Grinding, Inc. has specialized in the field of precision thread grinding for any type of molding core using non-conventional threads. We utilize the latest CNC technologies, with special emphasis on special thread leads on forms. We’ve worked with a variety of molding cores, including bubblers, collapsible cores, rotating cores, hand loaded cores, electrodes for EDM, worm gears, ball screws, and taps. We also manufacture all types of lead screws for any industry. Our highly trained team can machine forms on parts from 13 inches to .050 in diameter and 40 inches length. We also work with any sized collapsible core, ranging from miniseries to 702 CC+. These can be ground with precision and ease throughout the entire process. We’re experienced with any size DT and RT core and can help make sure that the cores are properly assembled for detailed grinding, precise OD, and accurate thread grinding. We can also grind between centers, in chuck, or via magnetic chuck. Any one of our services can also be reproduced on electrodes using ID burning or EDM, allowing us to provide extensive electrode grinding for ID molding threads.
LEAD SCREW GRINDING
For nearly 40 years, B & R Grinding, Inc. has provided innovative lead screw grinding services for a variety of industries. Backed by the latest CNC technologies on the market, we specialize in grinding lead screws from any length up to 44�, with production volumes between 1-2000 pieces. We ensure an excellent run on values by setting up our machines with steady rest, thereby maximizing production. Our highly trained personnel are well versed in multi-form grinding, allowing us to work with an array of shapes and sizes. We grind ball screws featuring any offset, ACME forms, and screw forms with trapezoidal, standard, circular or square geometries. We can also grind crest radii or chamfers on any type of lead screw, including military grade units. We have the ability to grind titanium, beryllium, and a variety of plastic materials. We can also handle additional material that possesses hardening properties above and beyond 62 RC. Each machine is precisely temperature controlled in order to prevent thermal expansion on parts. Our team is capable of building or reverse engineering any lead screw or mating nut with extremely close tolerances and precise fits.
WORM GRINDING
From automotive to medical industries, B & R Grinding, Inc. has supported an array of precision worm grinding applications utilizing the latest CNC technologies and equipment. We excel in high finishes that result in quiet and efficient performance for worm gears. To ensure our worm gears mesh together properly, we add crest radii and grind on the worm’s root radius in order to meet our customers’ performance needs. We also adjust backlash and can produce different leads for each flank angle for wear adjustments. Our team can grind a variety of materials, including titanium, beryllium, plastics, and other materials with hardening characteristics up to and beyond 62 RC. Capable of low or high production projects, we specialize in grinding hard to achieve high helix worm gear parts. We also manufacture master worm gears for a variety of industries. FORM & CONTOUR OD GRINDING
At B & R Grinding, Inc., we’ve provided an array of precision form grinding and contour OD grinding to multiple industries throughout the United States since 1976. Our highly trained team offers precision grinding services from .050 inches to 13 inches at a time. Utilizing the latest CNC technologies, our facility houses 5 Drake CNC thread grinders, 3 CNC O.D. grinders, and a Mazak Quick Turn lathe. Our diamond roll dressers are capable of producing some of the hardest forms possible. They handle both square and round radii as low as .002” on the corners, helping us achieve the smallest and most precise forms possible. In order to grind hard to achieve forms, we use a “smart form” technology that allows us to compensate for wheel wash out at the beginning and end of any form. Using smart dressing in our OD grinders, we can produce multiple forms and steps simultaneously in order to reduce cycle time and cost. We also offer point to point CNC dressing and can grind adjacent angles to any radius. Using inhouse CMM and gauging, we ensure angles, diameters, and grooves are ground to very tight tolerances.
TURNING & ID THREAD TURNING
With nearly 40 years of experience in precision grinding services, B & R Grinding, Inc. has been an industry leader in turning and ID thread turning. Our 7,500 sq. ft. facility offers the turning and milling capabilities to build parts from start to finish. Featuring CNC thread OD or ID turning, we machine ID threads for precision fit cores, lead screws, and bolts. We specialize in thread repair and operate a number of unconventional machining systems that allow us to provide services that are unmatched in the industry. For inspection and testing, we employ a Micro-Vu optical comparator as well as a J&L manual comparator. Our Y axis capability allows us to machine and mill simple or complex parts with off-center features using machine tool steels, plastics, alloys, aluminums, and exotics. We’ve also worked with titanium, beryllium, and other unique materials that feature hardening properties up to and over 62 RC. Our highly trained staff will use onboard CAM programming to enable fast setup and cycle times to improve production efficiency and reduce overall costs for our customers. We’re skilled in hard turning techniques that allow us to hold tight tolerances on OD, ID, or ID threads. Our
machinists excel in ID special form thread turning for an array of hardened materials, tool steels, and brass/AMCO nuts.
