What an extraordinary experience we have all been living through. Never have our homes and the décor we look at every day been so important to us. Little Greene paints and wallpapers: British history for your home - wherever you live! A family-owned business Little Greene is renowned for its extensive, high quality paint palette of beautiful heritage colours and the incredible finish the paints achieve as well as their amazing archive of wallpaper designs. Gallery properties and archives before being recoloured in Little Greene shades to meet the requirements of our 21st Century interiors. We share with you our conversation with the design team at Cole & Son as they approach the Seville Collection.
Seville Collection - An Introduction Thinking back on her first visit to the Andalusian capital, Cole & Son’s Design Director Carley Bean reflects how she was struck by the beautiful and diverse cultural influences around the city. “Seville is such a captivating city full of charm - visually
it has so much to offer: architecture, flora, fauna, culture, people and amazing food, as it inspires the likes of architects, musicians and poets throughout history,” Carley knew that her team would find a wealth of material to work from. “Within the first day of our inspiration trip we had well

over 30 ideas for different designs and concepts; around every corner was something new,” she enthused. The varied styles of the city spoke to each of the designers in turn, with handcrafted ceramics spawning sunshinefilled tile prints, bursting boughs of delicate bougainvillea creating softly painterly florals, and passion-filled flamenco performances pushing the team to look deeper into Sevillian music culture and symbolism.

“Oranges are also, of course, synonymous with Seville and so it was a challenge for us to present this in a unique way that reflected the courtyards and city streets brimming with fruit trees,” says Carley. The result, Orange Blossom, is a beautifully structured botanical print in tapestrylike vintage palettes. Hidden across the city are ancient ruins, some of the oldest being found under the newly built Las Setas complex and dating back to Roman times. One such ancient monument has become the city’s icon, the Alcazar, which left a lasting impression on the Design Studio as a stand-alone piece of art in itself. “The

Another integral part of Seville’s history is flamenco. The artform began in the city’s artisan quarter of Triana and has become a symbol of both the region as well as Spain as a whole. “The passion-filled performances we 15
witnessed around the city, both in the streets and dedicated theatres, were so arresting, there was no escaping the percussive call of guitars and footwork,” comments Carley. “As well as the aural influence of flamenco, we were struck by the beauty of the dancers’ dresses and fans, their ornate embroidery and distinctive silhouette were incredibly influential in both the damask design of Lola and the opulent Flamenco Fan. We really feel like we managed to capture the drama and symbolism of flamenco in these designs with intricate metallic detailing and bursting rosettes of carnations and roses,” she adds.

Landscape Collections: the art of story-telling Coordonné is a Mediterranean brand dedicated to creating unusual collections which tell a story. The renowned interior decorating firm was founded in the 1930s by the socialite, Sibyl Colefax and the talented artist and interior decorator, John Fowler. In the late 1940s Sibyl Colefax sold the company to the American heiress Nancy Lancaster and it was through her impressive social connections and exceptional taste that she and John Fowler created the ‘country house look’. Their talents and tastes were complementary; combined, they made a truly formidable decorating duo. Today, the interior design business continues to flourish, reverting to its original trading name of Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler in the 1990s, while the design studio ensures that timeless elegance continues to define Colefax and Fowler’s essentially English aesthetic. The brand’s collections are characterised by sophisticated designs, created using advanced printing and weaving techniques, in subtle colours. Each annual collection features striking and luxurious fabrics and a beautiful series of decorative and textured wallpapers.

We are celebrating 100 years of Albany and one of the first things we did was look at crowning this event with some new designs, which both celebrate the past but are very much about the here and now. So we were delighted when the lovely people at Mini Moderns agreed to join in the fun!
Albany X Mini Moderns Keith and Mark were given free rein to create two new patterns, from a decade of their choice, to mark the occasion. Unsurprisingly, based on the duo’s signature style, the pair were immediately drawn to the mid-century years of the 1950s and 1960s and so Atelier and FAB! were born.

Atelier is 50s inspired design based on the treasured finds of Keith and Mark’s visits to the galleries and markets of Paris while FAB! is an homage to Fab 208 pop magazine from the 60s and features a bold, large scale geometric print. Taking inspiration from Pop, Op and Hard Edge painting movements, Keith and Mark also drew upon their love of sixties fashion for the design, from Carnaby Street to Mary Quant and interiors by Verner Panton.
