4 Things to Do with All Those Fall Leaves

Yes, you can bag them up and put them out on the curb. But if you’re looking to get more creative with your crop of fallen leaves this autumn, you have a few sustainable, useful options. Check out these tips: 1. Make compost Did you know that the leaves from one large shade tree can pack as many nutrients as $50 worth of plant food? To make sure your leaves break down efficiently, consider adding a compost component with high levels of nitrogen (manure and Agrinite are good examples). Also remember to shred your leaves to prevent them from blowing in the wind. Remember to turn your pile over every few days, and you’ll have a rich compost in a matter of weeks. 2. Use them as mulch Autumn leaves can also serve as a substitute for store-bought mulch. Why use mulch? It has several “green” benefits: organic mulch decomposes into the soil, increasing both its fertility and moisture. Remember to shred leaves before mulching— unshredded leaves make it difficult for water to permeate the soil. Fortunately, you don’t need a shredder to do the job. Just shred what’s already on your grass when you mow your lawn. 3. Get crafty Hear us out—there are dozens of crafting opportunities sitting right in your front yard. Decorate a fall wreath with pinecones, mums, and dried leaves, or use leaves as templates for note cards or decorative stencils. You can also press a dried leaf between two panes of glass for a simple, elegant piece of art.

4. Make a leaf pile Can’t see your grass under all those leaves? Leaf raking is a great—and fun—autumn job for the kids. Why? Because they (and you, of course) get to jump into a massive, crunchy leaf pile after they’re finished. Fall fun at its finest.

Fastest Moving Markets Are Home to High Populations of Engineers and Baby Boomers As real estate enters the seasonally slower fall, properties in 12 major metro areas are still selling quickly, less than two months on the market, according to the realtor.com September National Housing Trend Report. These markets also demonstrate strength in standard economic indicators and share unexpected commonalities, including large populations of engineers and baby boomers. The 12 markets include: Oakland, CA; San Jose, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV(DC); Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA; Austin-San Marcos, TX; Omaha, NE-IA(NE); San Diego, CA; and Melbourne-Titusville-Palm Bay, FL. Move, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOVE) operates realtor.com. "When we see homes moving quickly in a particular market, we expect the trend to be supported by signs of local health like growth in economic production and employment," said Jonathan Smoke, chief economist for realtor.com. "This month, we also observed more out of the ordinary trends including high proportions of math and science professionals, as well as baby boomers in each of the fast moving markets. As the technology industry grows and aging baby boomers decide to make housing moves to support their retirement, we'll continue to see strong housing demand associated with these factors."

Annabelle: The Haunted Doll "Lou awoke one night from a deep sleep and in panic. Once again he had a reoccuring

bad dream. Only this time somehow, something seemed different. It was as though he was awake but couldn't move. He looked around the room but couldn't discern anything out of the ordinary and then it happened. Looking down toward his feet he saw the doll, Annabelle. It began to slowly glide up his leg, moved over his chest and then stopped. Within seconds the doll was strangling him. Paralyzed and gasping for breath Lou, at the point of asphyxiation, blacked out. Lou awoke the next morning, certain it wasn't a dream, Lou was determined to rid himself of that doll and the spirit that possessed it. Lou, however, would have one more terrifying experience with Annabelle. Preparing for a road trip the next day Lou and Angie were reading over maps alone in her apartment. The apartment seemed eerily quiet. Suddenly, rustling sounds coming from Donnas room aroused fear that someone had possibly broken into the apartment. Lou determined to figure out who or what it was quietly made his way to the bedroom door. He waited for the noises to stop before entering and turning on the light. The room was empty except for Annabelle whom was tossed on the floor in the corner. Lou scoured the room for forced entry but nothing was out of place. But as he got close to the doll he got the distinct impression that somebody was behind him. Spinning around he was quick to realize that nobody else was there. Then in flash he found himself grabbing for his chest, doubled over, cut and bleeding. His shirt was stained with blood and upon opening his shirt there on his chest was what looked to be 7 distinct claw marks, three vertically and four horizontally, all were hot like burns. These scratches healed almost immediately, half gone the next day, fully gone by day two. Read entire story

5 Myths About Mega Producers

Mega real estate producers are an enigma. They have secrets and magic formulas and know things the rest of us don’t, which is why they’re so much more successful than everyone else, right? Ironically, some of the biggest myths misconceptions about top producers are also the biggest reasons many agents don’t and won’t ever achieve that level of success. So what separates those big fish from the smaller fish in the proverbial real estate pond? Two words: attitude and belief. Success starts with attitude and belief — or in some cases, success is stalled because of attitude and selflimiting beliefs. Here are some of the most common myths I’ve heard about mega producers: They got lucky. They don’t have to worry about money. They have no life. They know a secret shortcut. They are jerks. The last myth is one I was guilty of thinking in my rookie years, but I’ve heard all of these (and more) time and again from agents when talking about why other

agents are so successful. Flipped around, they’re actually rationalizing why they aren’t as successful.

Myth No. 1: They got lucky Somewhere along the way, the agent got a lucky break, was gifted a huge lead and/or had a relative who was a builder/investor/flipper. Rationalization: They don’t deserve to be where they are and I’ll never get there unless I catch the same kind of break. Truth: We make our own luck. All you can do is control your actions, not the result. By taking action consistently, “lucky breaks” have a way of appearing when you’re not looking. As real estate writer Jason van Steenwyk points out in this article about the importance of perpetually prospecting, “There’s a saying among musicians: If you are very, very talented and work very, very hard, you can increase your chances of being lucky.” Myth No. 2: They don’t have to worry about money They make so much money they can spend whatever they want to get business and don’t have to worry about budgets.

Rationalization: My funds are limited. If I can’t go big I might as well not try. I’ll never be able to work at that level. Truth: Top producers track every dime of what they earn and spend. They pay close attention to budgets and track returns on investment. Everyone starts somewhere and, last I checked, picking up the phone and calling your sphere was cheap. Tackle the basics and grow from there. Myth No. 3: They have no life They must work 24/7 to be able to do that much business. Rationalization: If I do more business, I’m not going to have time for my family or quality of life. I don’t want to be a workaholic so I’ll just hold myself back. Truth: They are more efficient with time management and prioritizing tasks and have learned to delegate and leverage their experience and knowledge. Top producers are typically more productive because they work smart, not hard. Many top agents I know take multiple vacations every year and don’t work weekends. >>>>Read more BrevardElite.com
