Highways Operations Graffiti is a major problem in the borough and can cost the council up to ÂŁ250,000 a year to clean. In season two of Filthy Rotten Scoundrels, the graffiti removal team, led by highways operations manager Simon Finney (see below), set up a covert
Trading Standards operation with hidden cameras and night-time surveillance. The operation was highly successful as the team caught one of Brent’s most prolific graffiti vandals. To report illegal graffiti or request its removal, please call the council on 020 8937 5050.
In March this year, officers from Brent and Harrow Trading Standards featured in two episodes of Food Inspectors on BBC One. In the first episode, Bootleg Booze, enforcement officers Jon Ashby and Andy Faulkner (above) visited shops in the borough suspected of stocking counterfeit alcohol. Jon and Andy have just finished filming for Fake Britain so watch out for that in the near future.
Episode four focused on the work of food inspector Andreas Kirschner (below) who discovered a rodent and cockroach infestation at a kebab takeaway in Willesden Green and poor food hygiene and handling at a takeaway in Harlesden. If you are concerned a shop is selling counterfeit alcohol or is not complying with food safety standards call 020 8937 5555.
