OUR REUNION

CAUSEWAYPOINT

AEI

FEASIBILITY

Impression of neutrality, expressing the social canvas

VISUAL IMPRESSION CONTEXT & CONCEPT Causeway Point is the largest shopping mall in Woodlands operated by Frasers Property. It is located beside the Woodlands MRT station and the Underground Woodlands Bus Interchange. The brief included various spaces of the mall for AEI works. Over the course of the feasibility study, the initial scope of works has now been reduced to L1 atrium feature, general corridors inclusive of linkway, B1 carpark, B2 carpark and restrooms.

PART 01

Inspired by the bustling historical context of Woodlands Causeway Point is centered around the idea of community building and connectivity. The mall is designed with a minimalist, neutral colour scheme to set the stage for the community to be the highlight in enlivening the spaces.

4

The key design strategy is to find a uniform language amongst the various motifs found in the existing mall and to bring in light into the space where the community can thrive. ‘Our Reunion’ is a concept of welcoming individuals of various tiers of the social canvas to come together in a shared, inclusive space. The design narrative of Causeway Point is centered around the idea of connectivity and community that encourages visitors to interact with visitors and surrounding environment.

CONVERGE Eventually, the design will come to an anchor point on the space. Highlighting an area as a feature and centrepoint through networking of people, the marriage of the human flow (eg atrium and corridor stores).

Expressing verticality, sitmulating visual connectivity

VISUAL IMPRESSION CONTEXT & CONCEPT This project is the entryway to Manyata Tech Park. The overall development should have an urban feel, with both large and small comfortable open spaces suited for pedestrians, as well as abundant greenery for a desirable habitable space, incorporating biophilic design in line with Capitaland’s principles. The overall design concept of the massing and façade is to achieve uniformity of the reading of the glass as large expansive planes, and to express the triangulated special prismatic facets with as little metal as possible.

PART 02

Materiality of the glass should be neutral white and reflective of its surroundings, while confirming with performance requirements.

8

Using geometric shapes and patterns inspired by the exterior’s triangulated prismatic facets. This can be achieved through the choice of furniture, lighting fixtures, or decorative elements. The concept for the interior would translate the massing and façade design principles into an elegant, contemporary interior space that harmonizes with the exterior design by embracing transparency, geometry, and a connection to nature while maintaining a sleek and modern aesthetic.

DESIGN TRANSLATION VISUAL CONNECTIVITY

SOUTH TOWER PLAN

The title “Prismatic Elegance” signifies the transformation of biophilic elements into a sophisticated contemporary style, enhancing the interior space. The project’s conceptual strategy aims to reduce the visual link between the exterior and interior areas. Emphasizing vertical elements and utilizing reflective materials creates a more seamless visual connection from floor to ceiling while effectively showcasing the lobby’s height. The project’s design approach centers on the south tower, making it the primary focus for implementing creative concepts and design elements The design is then extended from the south tower to the north tower to maintain a cohesive aesthetic while adapting to each space’s unique features. A VILLAGE STORY SENGKANG GRAND COMMUNITY CLUB

Expression and preservation of “the kampung spirit””

VISUAL IMPRESSION CONTEXT & CONCEPT An important facet of Singapore’s rich and cherished heritage is embodied by the kampong spirit, a profound concept that underscores the values of community and solidarity. At the heart of this communal existence, the ‘Tingkat,’ also known as the Tiffin, held a ubiquitous presence in kampong households. This traditional container transcended ethnic boundaries, serving as a vessel to store and transport food while acting as a symbol of shared sustenance among neighbors and friends.

PART 03

Drawing upon this rich cultural legacy, we have taken the ‘Tingkat’ as the central source of inspiration for our design philosophy. The Tiffin was not just a means of transporting food; it was a carrier of health and well-being.

12

Home-cooked meals, typically healthier than those purchased elsewhere, found their place within these compartments, promoting a lifestyle attuned to wellness. In the design, we have consciously integrated elements that contribute to well-being and health. We’ve employed materials boasting antimicrobial properties and anti-fingerprint finishes, ensuring a hygienic and aesthetically pleasing experience. Additionally, our choice of stain and odor-repellent materials further enhances the user’s quality of life, resonating with the kampong spirit’s values of care and consideration for one another.

the extension of the treehouse experience, where we explore the means from floor to canopy, expressing the different layers within the education stratum. Starting from the ground, we express the constant change in environment as the leaves fall in modules from the canopy. Moving upwards, the bark and shell envelops the core, and expresses the various textures rhythmic plays of the journey. Lastly, the canopy inclusive of leaves and branches interlaces the networks of patterns, that creates transformative spatial experience,

NEW ENDEAVOUR 2020 FYP IDCS PUBLIC DEIGN BRONZE

Discovery for the homeless, a bridge through seperation.

VISUAL IMPRESSION CONTEXT & CONCEPT New Endeavour” is a social platform to integrate the homeless back into the society allowing them to move forward in life, changing their mindset and perspectives in a unconventional way.

The primary aim of New Endeavour is to help homeless individuals become part of mainstream society again. This implies that homeless individuals may feel disconnected from society due to their circumstances, and this initiative seeks to bridge that gap.

Rather than focusing on giving them a home, or welfare my design will allow them to rediscover themselves through social activities and spaces that allows them to share, socialise and reflect to gain new insights.

This suggests that the focus is on long-term personal development and not just temporary assistance. It aims to empower homeless individuals to progress in their lives beyond their current situation.

Creating holistic system to provide and environment for change, a platform to integrate the homeless back into society, changing their mindset and perpsective to allow them to move forward physically and mentally. PART 06

Allowing them to create stronger bonds with the community and motivate them gaining assurance and support as they grow.

UNITY (SCUPTURE)

NEBO SCULPTURE COMPETITION

(RUNNER UP)

Remenance the sense of belonging and togetherness

VISUAL IMPRESSION CONTEXT & CONCEPT UNITY The sculpture is inspired by parents supporting their child in his/her growth process. The parents’ bodies form a loop from one to another reveals the quality of forming a united whole, thus, expressing how they envelope the child by sheltering him/her through their journey in life.

PART 07

HARMONY The final rendition of the design also mimics harmony. From side elevations, the child can be seen swinging from both the parents’ arms while from the back, it represents love and compassion in the family. With love and compassion, the child sprouts hence this signifies great family bonding and team spirit. Unity is all about bringing different elements together in a harmonious way. When we create sculptures with the values of “family,

32

united as one,” we’re trying to express ideas of togetherness and getting along. In sculpture, we take great care to blend different parts, and it’s in this combination that the artwork reflects the beauty of unity. It’s like when diverse elements come together and create something wonderful, symbolizing the power of working together and being united.
