The Campus Long Range Development Plan The primary spatial and landscape structure of the campus is an inverted “L” focused at its corner on the Academic Green, with projections southward along University Mall toward the Research Park and extending eastward to the proposed double court yarded of the First Nations University. This primary structure is complemented by a series of courtyards providing a focus and identity to smaller groups of buildings. Parking is proposed partly on the surface, partly under buildings, and partly in two major structures shown south and east of the Kinesiology building. Two potential locations are shown for a street and pedestrian linkage passing under the Trans-Canada Highway to link with future expansion of the campus in Wascana East. University Playing Fields remain in the eastern part of the campus, adjacent to the Highway.

The road system around the academic precinct is a loop containing a pedestrian zone. Buildings facing the perimeter road should establish a street presence or sense of address. Other basic principles of The University of Regina Campus Plan can be summarized as follows: Compact Campus Size: Future development will support a sense of cohesion as well as convenient pedestrian movement between campus facilities.

Spatial Structure: The spatial structure of the campus will be reinforced. It is composed of a central space, two spines east and south, a series of protected courts, and a network of trails.
