The Process of Setting up An Outdoor Clothesline Pole Though the world is fast moving with advanced technologies, there are a few things that feel good when done the old traditional way; line drying the laundry is one among them. Using electric dryers may make our job easier but the benefits of drying the clothes on an outdoor clothesline pole are many. It saves our money, electricity, quality of the clothes and the environment we live in. Hence, it is a wise decision to shift to line drying the clothes. Here is an outlook on the process of setting up an outdoor clothesline pole.

Choosing the type of clothesline. The various types of outdoor clothesline available include fixed rotary clothesline, umbrella clothesline, portable clothesline, folding clothesline and the retractable clothesline. If you enjoy the luxury of a large backyard or lawn then opting for the old and traditional fixed rotary clothesline would be the best. Portable clothesline, as the name suggests, can be moved from one place to another, and is best suited for winters and rainy seasons making it perfect to be moved indoors. With umbrella clothesline, you can hang a heavy load of clothing in a very small space; it also comes with an option of foldaway for storage after use. Thus choosing the right clothesline that fits your space is important.

Spot it Right Once you are done with choosing the type of clothesline you require, the next task in hand is to decide a right spot for your clothesline. You should fix a spot that is less shady and away from trees so the sun can work its way in drying the clothes. Also, try to keep it away from walking or gardening areas and where kids run around so that the clothes will not be disturbed.

Installation Process For better durability and stability of the clothesline, it is wiser to go for a concrete base installation. For this, a concrete block or cavity that acts as a pre-set block should be used, inside which the socket should be placed and set using quick cement. Now on the already chosen spot, place the block and dig a hole of 10 inches square and 16 inches deep. To allow drainage, it is important to place a large stone or a small block below the pre-set concrete block with the socket. You should take extra care to set the level of the drainage fill so that the socket is about half an inch below the surface of the lawn. Now add water and quick cement gradually to fill the areas around the concrete block. Once the hole is half full, you can fix the pole of the clothesline into the socket and set the level of your choice. The rest of the hole can be filled with cement making the base levelled and replace the removed soil on top of it. The pole should be left undisturbed for one day giving time for the base to be set. Thus an outdoor clothesline pole of your choice can be installed by following the simple procedure and you can enjoy a smarter, healthier and budget friendly way of drying your laundry.
