7:15PM NEWFILMMAKERS FIRST FEATURETTE PRESENTATION Carlos Funes THE MINIMALIST (2017, 38 minutes, digital) Thomas, a self-proclaimed recluse, is a photographer in New York City who sees the world through the lens of his camera. He approaches his photography—as well as his life—in a minimalist style, focusing on the purity and simplicity of things. His world is turned upside down when he encounters Sylvia, a free spirit with a wicked side, and her boyfriend Patrick, a guy’s guy who is as intimidating as he is charming.

8:00PM NEWFILMMAKERS SECOND FEATURETTE PRESENTATION Edith Stephen ALAN KAPELNER (2016, 40 minutes, digital) Mr. Kapelner, a protege of the editor and critic Maxwell Perkins, published two novels. His first, ‘’Lonely Boy Blues,’’ was published in 1944 and earned acclaim for its evocation of New York City. ‘’All the Naked Heroes,’’ his second novel, appeared in 1960. The story involved two brothers who were graduated from college during the Depression.

Nina Goede MY MONT D’OR (2016, 86 minutes, video) The director, Nina Goedé is the central figure of the film, which is presented as a visual and sound poem, in the form of auto-fiction. In a breathless and stubborn movement, it takes us in the footsteps of her past in various places in Europe and the Mediterranean, including the Mont d’Or, who in her personal mythology, is a haven of peace and creativity.

Meanwhile, his girlfriend Penny, is at his apartment watching football with his douchbag roommate, who thinks he can steal her away. Odie’s journey is filled with strange characters and crazy drug induced situations along the way, but will he ever make it home to reclaim what is his and reunite with the love of his life?

Call for Interns NewFilmmakers New York is looking for interns! Come join our team and learn about the world of film exhibition. NewFilmmakers New York is a Film Series screening at Anthology Film Archives which was start 18 years ago by NYU Film Alumni. We screen weekly throughout the year and need interns to work in the office and at our weekly events. Some of the intern duties will involve marketing/publicity, Social Media, and Film Programming. This is a great opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of film festivals, how they operate, and why your film does (or doesn’t) get programmed.
