Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education ​[Music] my name is Amy Tillich I work with my husband Barry we partner and run mid Iowa seats which is a pioneer seed dealership we work primarily with customers in Dallas and Warren counties my role is varies from day to day I guess you would say I tend to do invoicing billing customer service as needed you may also find me on a forklift loading seed or delivering things to the field it just depends on the time of day and the time of year and the season and how busy we are I also am part of the producer services team at the Iowa Soybean Association and work with them on a part-time as a needed basis Barry and I have two daughters Jenna's 14 and Abby who is 11 they're both very active in showing livestock we tend to show not only at the county and State Fair but also at national shows across the country and we have a lot of fun doing that they're active in their 4-h club we're actually starting a new 4-h club in the upcoming months I guess you would say and so we've been working on that working on ideas and ways that we want to I guess focus on livestock and AG in our community with a new group of kids in addition to those things I also am part of the Warren County Extension Council which is a great organization to be a part of and watch things happen in our our very own County right here and see events that we get to take part in in those my name is Courtney Darrington and I am the county executive director for Warren County Extension amy has been on council for over 10 years in Warren County and in that time we have seen many changes in Warren County we have passed the referendum and during that time there is multiple attempts at passing that referendum and amy was one of the people that truly spearheaded that process along with others in Warren County amy has been chairs of various committees is currently serving as the Warren County Extension Council Chair and is a go-to person for everyone in the office so she's she's our right-hand lady I would like to think that people look at me sometimes as a resource because of a lot of the activities that I've been involved in in the past whether it's 4-h or extension or even things we do with our show cattle as far as associations I was soybean association just our network of people I hope that people can look to us or me as a resource and someone that obviously I don't know the answer but I may know someone who can help to get to the right place when I ask the question at our women land and legacy group of someone in the community who is well connected to agriculture who is impacting many different areas and also who has a heart for it Amy's name came up many times and I have only been in my role a couple years and so I know Amy from the extension side of it but other people chimed in and told stories of Amy her youth and what she did in Warren County as an intern and then also a me from her soybean roll and all the impacts that she's had through that working with growers in the area and their family business and then I see her here is extension as my chair and as a person that I can go to and a volunteer and a future 4-h leader and all these different roles that Amy just fit the gamut I mean she is agriculture in Warren County and a woman that I hope to grow up to be like I think the biggest thing that myself and also bury my husband can provide is education for people about what things are available we tend to I mean obviously in our business we can provide people with resources for planting cover crops or connecting them with other folks that we know that can help them with advice for improving waterways or you know helping with water quality eventually a lot of our customers I think are pretty good stewards of the land but we can also help to help to improve that for them [Music] [Music] CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.
