Sticky Date Pudding Traditional Australian Recipe

{CARAMEL SAUCE}

½-cup butter, ¼-cup whipping cream, ½-cup firm packed brown sugar, 1-tablespoon firm packed brown sugar, ½-teaspoon vanilla extract

Ingredients List: (1) cup dates (pitted and chopped) (1) tsp bi-carbonate soda (1) cup boiling water (2) tbsp butter (1) cup soft brown sugar (2) eggs (1.5) cups self rising flour (sifted)

Mix dates and bi-carbonate soda in a saucepan, pour boiling water over the top and leave to stand. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy and pale in color. Add eggs one at a time (beating well after each addition). Gently fold in the sifted flour and stir in the date mixture. Pour into a lightly greased 18cm (7") square or round cake tin. Bake in a preheated oven at 180c(350f) for 30-40 minutes. Combine sugar, cream, vanilla essence and butter in a saucepan. Bring to the boil. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes (set aside till ready to serve). This needs to be heated again, just before serving). Cut pudding into squares and place individual squares in the centre of a warm plate. Pour hot toffee sauce over each serving and serve with cream or ice cream.

BBQ & CRICKET MATCH January 29, 2012 As part of Australia week, on Sunday the 29th of January 2012, from 10:30am - 2:30pm rain or shine, the Australian-American Chamber of Commerce will be hosting our 3rd annual family BBQ and Australia vs England Cricket match. The cricket will be a casual affair (played in backyard style). Although winning isn't important (right!) - the AACC must defend its title from the BABC and once again bring home the other Ashes! The game will be 20 over's per side. Food and beverages will be provided on the day.
