First adventure with new tents
Next Bradley Stoke community forum
By Jenny Thompson of Bradley Stoke Woodcraft pring camp this year was made all the more special as it was the first time we’ve been able to use our new tents, which we were able to buy with the grant from Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme earlier in the year. It didn’t take long before all our tents were up and we settled in to fun packed weekend. With such a warm weekend water games proved particularly popular, as were the giant bubbles. Sunday saw the whole camp head into the shade of the woodland for a code breaking challenge, once all the teams had completed their individual tasks they came together to solve the final piece of the puzzle and unlock the mystery box with a camp badge for everyone. The next Community Engagement Forum (CEF) for Bradley Stoke, Stoke Lodge and The Common takes place at the Jubilee Centre, Savages Wood Road BS32 8HL on Thursday 28th June, starting at 7pm. South Gloucestershire Council’s CEFs, previously known as Safer and Stronger Community Groups, are about listening and responding to local people’s real issues. People in their communities know best what works for them and what their real needs are. CEFs have been developed through working with various partner agencies including Avon & Somerset Police, Avon Fire & Rescue, health authorities, town & parish councils and local organisations. To find out more, visit www. southglos.gov.uk/cef or phone the community engagement team on 01454 868113.

marshmallows. Our older groups set off on a bat walk round the lake, and were not disappointed as they got to watch the bats come out and feed. For many, the most memorable part of camp was Sunday morning as two hot air balloons came over the camp and landed in the field just behind the tents. It’s not everyday you get to watch hot air balloons land while eating your cornflakes! Bradley Stoke Woodcraft is open to children aged 6 to 12 and we meet every Wednesday during term time. If you would
