CVA was founded in 1971 as Connecticut Valley Arms™ specializing in traditional side-lock muzzleloading rifles and build-it-yourself rifle kits. Since that time, CVA has developed a reputation for providing customers with high-performing guns and accessories at the best value available. And we strive to live up to that reputation today by continually developing technical innovations that redefine consumer expectations.

LONG RANGE MUZZLELOADER

PARAMOUNT ™ SERIES

PARAMOUNT ™ Series rifles are unlike any other muzzleloading rifles on the market. These guns were specifically developed and designed to handle “super-magnum” propellant charges of 112 grains (.45 caliber) or 119 grains (.50 caliber) by weight of Blackhorn® 209 – and thus provides muzzle velocities comparable to centerfire rifles.

New for 2023 is the PARAMOUNT ™ PRO V2, our lightest and most versatile PARAMOUNT ever. Featuring a custom designed Grayboe™ stock that is 8 ounces lighter than its predecessor in .45 caliber, and 2 ounces lighter in .50 caliber, this new stock also features an adjustable cheek riser that can be set high for use with the most powerful optics or low for use with the new Micro-Adjust Williams® peep sight. The new Micro-Adjust Williams® peep sight is offered as standard equipment on the .50 caliber, and the .45 caliber is drilled and tapped to accept the peep sight as well. Removable stock spacers allow for perfect LOP adjustment for any shooter and the Limbsaver® recoil pad substantially reduces felt recoil. Of course, the PARAMOUNT PRO V2 has all the great performance features of the standard PARAMOUNT, but it is also upgraded with a premium TriggerTech® fully adjustable trigger and a Cerakote® barrel finish that perfectly complements the stock’s hand painted camo.

Incredibly fast muzzle velocity is what made the PARAMOUNT ™ .45 the talk of the industry when it was first introduced in 2019, but speed is worth nothing without the accuracy to put those shots where they belong. And with its nitride treated, stainless steel Bergara® barrel, combined with its internal chassis and fully adjustable stock, the PARAMOUNT does just that. Paired with PowerBelt’s 285 grain ELR bullets, which were specially designed for the PARAMOUNT, this rifle can produce incredibly tight groups at ranges previously thought unreachable for a muzzleloader. Available in .45 caliber only.

ACCURA® X-TREME SERIES

The ACCURA® Series of rifles provide a level of overall performance and ease-of-use that is unequaled by any other break-action muzzleloaders on the market today. Accuracy has always been a given in CVA’s ACCURA series rifles because all are equipped with premium, custom quality Bergara® barrels, which are widely recognized as the most accurate production muzzleloader barrels in the world. The new ACCURA LR-X and MR-X offer features never before seen in production muzzleloaders – like quick-take-down design for easy cleaning and compact transport, a carbon-fiber collapsible loading rod that eliminates the accuracy robbing necessity of hanging a ramrod under the barrel, an adjustable comb for perfect eye-to-sight alignment with open sights or optics, fast rifling twists for optimal performance with modern projectiles and propellants, and a threaded muzzle which allows the use of CVA’s Paramount Muzzle Brake for magnum charge shooting with minimal recoil. The LR-X is available in the flat and fast shooting .45 caliber, and if you hunt in a state where .50 caliber is still required, it is also offered in both models. Plus, each Accura X-Treme features SoftTouch finish for easy gripping, even in the harshest weather conditions.

The ACCURA® LR-X is our longer barreled ACCURA muzzleloader (the LR stands for “Long Range”), featuring a 30” Nitride treated stainless steel Bergara barrel. The LR-X is designed for the hunter who wants the extra velocity that longer barrels provide, making longer range shots a bit less difficult due to decreased drops. Perfect for the western plains or eastern bean fields, the ACCURA LR-X is available in Veil™ Wideland camo or Realtree® Hillside™ camo, both with matching Cerakote™ barrel finishes.

The ACCURA® MR-X is our shorter-barreled ACCURA muzzleloader (the MR stands for “Mountain Rifle”) and features a 26” Bergara barrel in either bare stainless steel or Nitride® treated stainless steel. The MR-X is designed for hunters seeking a rifle that is both light to carry in the mountains and easy to maneuver in tight situations – like thickets or tree stands – yet still capable of reaching out there when necessary. The ACCURA MR-X is available in Veil® Alpine™ or Tru Timber Strata Realtree® Rockslide™ camo with matching Cerakote® barrel finishes, or a basic black stock with stainless steel.

CROSSFIRE

The new CVA Crossfire was developed for use with the patented Firestick® ignition system. The system uses pre-loaded powder capsules that are loaded into the breech of the rifle, with only the projectile being loaded through the muzzle. This system combined with CVA’s break-action design provides unsurpassed ease of loading and unloading for the convenience-minded shooter.

OPTIMA® V2

Modeled after CVA’s long popular ACCURA® V2, the OPTIMA® V2 rifles feature the same trigger-guard actuated breeching lever, internal parts, and trigger. The barrels are constructed of stainless steel and are offered in either the standard bare stainless or treated with our state-of-the-art Nitride® rust-proofing process. Add in CVA’s Quick-Release Breech Plug (which is finger removable), 100% ambidextrous stock, and a CrushZone® recoil pad, and you’ve got a gun with more quality features than any other muzzleloading rifle in its price range.

Equipped with a 26” or 28” barrel, the OPTIMA V2 is both easy to maneuver in the tree stand and comfortable to carry in the mountains. It comes standard with a DuraSight® DEAD-ON ™ one-piece scope mount or DuraSight fiber optic sights, and CVA’s solid aluminum PalmSaver™ ramrod.

WOLF V2

The Wolf V2 is our newest and most affordable break-action muzzleloader, and it’s packed with features that only CVA can offer at this price. Features like a fully ambidextrous LOP adjustable stock make it the perfect gun for righties, lefties, adults and children.

The WOLF V2 also features CVA’s QRBP (Quick-Release Breech Plug), the only truly tool-free removal breech plug on the market today. Even after 20 or more shots, the QRBP comes out with just a twist of the fingers. Try that with any other “speed breech” system. Plus, the break-action breech opens easily with just a touch of the breeching button, which is located in the front of the trigger guard.

The Wolf V2 barrel is compact and quick pointing and made of corrosion resistant stainless-steel. And models are available with a DuraSight® one-piece scope mount or open fiber-optic sights. CVA’s solid aluminum PalmSaver™ ramrod is also standard equipment on all Wolf V2 models.

CENTERFIRE RIFLES

CASCADE ™ SERIES

The CASCADE is CVA’s first ever bolt-action rifle. Long the leader in both muzzleloading and single-shot centerfires, CVA has applied its 50 years of experience into making what we feel to be the best bolt-action centerfire rifles on the market. All CASCADE rifles feature a 4140 carbon steel barrel finished in Cerakote® Muzzles are threaded and ready for either a muzzle brake or suppressor. The CASCADE bolt design incorporates a 70° throw for smooth and fast operation, as well as generous scope clearance. The barreled action fits perfectly into our own fiberglass reinforced stock, which features a SoftTouch finish for a sure grip, dual front swivel studs and a full inch of length-of-pull adjustment. Cascade rifles are offered in three different configurations.

CASCADE XT (X-Treme) is our new “precision-oriented” member of the CASCADE family. Several key features make it the perfect multiple-purpose rifle for many hunters. First, the heavier #5 taper fluted barrel adds stability and improves balance, while also allowing the firing of multiple shots without accuracy loss due to excessive barrel heating. Next, our radial muzzle brake greatly reduces recoil, making the XT very comfortable to shoot both on the range and in the field, even in heavier calibers. And lastly, the XT’s tactical-style bolt knob provides better leverage for faster manipulation of the bolt, especially from the prone position.

The standard Cascade is our classic hunting rifle. A Cerakote barrel finish in Flat Dark Earth complements the camouflage finish on the stock, making it blend perfectly into the woods, but really stand out in your gun cabinet. The barrel is a #3 contour and is 22, 24, or 26-inches long, depending on caliber.

The CASCADE SB (Short Barrel) is our short-barreled version of the CASCADE rifle. Quick and easy to point, it makes a perfect “tight spots gun,” and even when suppressor-equipped it’s still easy to maneuver. The SB’s #4 contour barrel is finished in Graphite Black Cerakote and is offered in 16.5 and 18-inch lengths.

SCOUT ™ CENTERFIRE RIFLES

For the hunter who wants a high-quality single shot rifle, the SCOUT ™ is the ideal choice. Its sleek, lightweight, and easy-to-operate design sets a new standard for affordable single shot hunting rifles. The composite stock is lightweight, 100% ambidextrous, and features CVA’s CrushZone® Recoil pad – a real plus for heavier calibers like the .35 Whelen. Every SCOUT model is perfectly balanced making the gun incredibly quick to aim and shoot. All SCOUT rifles include a DuraSight® scope rail, which will accept most any standard scope rings found on the market today.

The SCOUT ™ TD (Take-Down) comes with either a 22” or 25” (heavier calibers) fluted stainless steel barrel. THE BEST POWERBELT BULLETS EVER!

CVA and PowerBelt joined forces to develop the ELR (Extended Long Range) bullets specifically for the PARAMOUNT super-magnum rifles, but they can provide superior long-range performance in any .40, .45, or .50 caliber muzzleloader.

Critical to the ELR’s long-range potential is the high ballistic coefficient as compared to other muzzleloading projectiles. Due to their longer length and aggressively tapered shape, the ELRs deliver BCs up to .360 in .40 caliber, .333 in .45 caliber, and .312 in .50 caliber. This is achieved by incorporating a large hollow point cavity which eliminates lead from the core, allowing the bullet to be lengthened without adding excess weight.

This hollow core is then filled by the tail of the polycarbonate ballistic tip, which offsets the tendency of the bullet to expand too rapidly.

The addition of a hardening agent to the copper plating makes ELRs capable of delivering controlled expansion even with the super-magnum loads used in the Paramount rifle. But testing with standard loads also revealed the ELR bullets to be excellent performers at conventional velocities.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

BEWARE OF LOADING GIMMICKS

There’s a lot of bad information out there. Couple that with industry-wide changes in terminology, and it’s more important than ever for all muzzleloader users to understand how to safely load and shoot their muzzleloader per manufacturer guidelines. Read all instructions carefully.

NEVER USE SMOKELESS POWDER IN ANY MUZZLELOADER

Some manufacturers, including CVA, are now offering guns that are designed to shoot heavier than standard powder charges and/ or projectiles. New shooters may become confused by the advertising for these rifles and attempt to use heavier charges and/or projectiles in older guns, which were not designed to handle the resulting high pressures. Even some experienced shooters have made this mistake. Some have also used what is known as a “duplex load,” which is a mixture of blackpowder and smokeless powder. Any percentage of smokeless powder in a duplex load may create pressures almost equal to pure smokeless charges and could cause a blackpowder gun to explode. Make no mistake about it — these loading practices can be incredibly dangerous! All shooters need to fully understand the recommended loads for each blackpowder gun they own.
