AN UNEXPECTED FASHION STORY 05 june — 13 sept. ’15 Déchiffrez l’ADN de la mode belge lors de la plus grande exposition jamais consacrée à celle-ci. La mode belge ne connaît pas de style dominant, uniforme. Elle est cependant reconnaissable à l’attitude indépendante adoptée par ses créateurs, déjà présente bien avant les légendaires « Six d’Anvers ». Au Palais des Beaux-Arts, quelques-unes des œuvres majeures de Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Raf Simons, Martin Margiela, Olivier Theyskens et de beaucoup d’autres créateurs vous feront ressentir la passion. Les œuvres de l’artiste belgo-camerounais Pascale Marthine Tayou forment un fil de couleurs traversant BOZAR. Un serpent de tissus, bois et plastique d’une centaine de mètres mène le visiteur aux impressionnantes installations situées dans les salles. À l’aide d’objets trouvés et de matériaux organiques, Tayou exprime les paradoxes de notre époque contemporaine. « Un spectacle plein de vie qu’il faut avoir vu », rapporte The Huffington Post, présent à l’exposition BOOMERANG des Serpentine Galleries de Londres. NL De kunstwerken van de Belgisch-Kameroense kunstenaar Pascale Marthine Tayou lopen als een kleurige draad door BOZAR. Van een honderd meter lange slang uit stof, hout en plastic tot indrukwekkende installaties in de zalen. Met gevonden voorwerpen en organische materialen drukt Tayou zich uit over hedendaagse paradoxen. “Een wilde, levendige show die je moét gezien hebben”, schreef The Huffington Post over de BOOMERANGtentoonstelling in de Londense Serpentine Galleries. EN The works of art by the Belgian-Cameroon artist Pascale Marthine Tayou run around the Centre of Fine Arts like a colourful thread. They range from a one hundred metre long snake made of cloth, wood and plastic to his impressive installations in the exhibition halls. Tayou expresses his feelings about contemporary paradoxes with the aid of found objects and organic materials. L’artiste arménien Mekhitar Garabedian est né à Alep (Syrie), a grandi à Beyrouth et vit aujourd’hui en Belgique. Ses photos, films et installations témoignent d’une recherche sur l’impact de la langue dans le développement identitaire d’un « immigrant ». Une œuvre où le sentiment de déracinement n’est jamais loin. NL De Armeense kunstenaar Mekhitar Garabedian werd geboren in Aleppo (Syrië), groeide op in Beiroet (Libanon) en woont in België. In zijn foto’s, films en installaties zoekt hij naar de impact van taal in de ontwikkeling van de identiteit van een ‘immigrant’. Een gevoel van ontheemding is nooit ver weg in zijn werk.
