BOWLS WA REPORTS - FIXTURES & EVENTS Fixtures & Events This Fixtures and Events Committee has seen the amalgamation of mens and womens Match Committees with an intention, among others, of ensuring common procedures and general conditions for both genders in pennant and state events. The Committee members have worked tirelessly throughout the season working on fixtures and field of play rules as well as all the work required to maintain the pennant fixtures plus Bowls WA and Bowls Australia events throughout the long season. I congratulate and thank Brian Burton and Di Anderton and all the Fixtures and Events Committee members for the time and effort they put into running events for WA bowlers. The commitment of these volunteers is often overlooked by club members who don’t see the complexities involved in trying to fixture events to suit the many and varied circumstances of bowlers. I would also like to thank Pieter Harris as the Bowls WA staff member who works with the Fixtures and Events Committee and does a tremendous job in coordinating all areas of the complex Bowls WA calender. Edna Milne and Lyn Colmer, who retired from the Committee during the season, deserve thanks and acknowledgement for their contributions to overseeing events. Di Anderton, who has retired from this Committee, having volunteered over many years, will be hard to replace because of her knowledge of managing events and her tireless efforts on behalf of WA bowlers. The Fixtures and Events Committee works all year to ensure Bowls WA Pennants, State events, Over 60s events, Under 18 events and Bowls Australia qualifying events are conducted and managed effectively and efficiently. Every attempt is made to make competitive bowls appealing and accessible to as many bowlers as possible but ultimately decisions regarding fixturing need to be made and it is not always possible to suit all individual circumstances. Once again thanks to the Committee for their ongoing commitment to making our game better.
