LUXURY SUITE BATHROOM
SPHERE BOUTIQUE HOTEL Hospitality Design | 40,000 SF | Spring 2020 Programs: Revit, Photoshop
The goal of this project is to create a boutique hotel unique to St. Augustine. My concept is an ecosphere, or an enclosed ecosystem that sustains itself by managing the balance of energy sources. I chose ecosphere, because it shows the circle of life and how the environment changes over time, which embodies St. Augustine through historical symbolism, therapeutic effects, and hospitability. This concept is manifested in the project through the use of balanced design motifs such as light and dark, soft and harsh edges, and the use of native materials and materials that refers to an ecosphere.

Spa Treatment Room
SPHERE BALANCE | SPA DESIGN CONCEPT The spa is chosen as the project’s specialty area as a balance to the business aspect of the hotel, hence the name “Balance”. Its main purpose is to “reset scale of work-life balance,” which extends to the design solutions of the space. The spa entrance is set on the 4th floor to offer privacy and luxury to the guests. It then extends downward to the sauna and pool like a hidden cavern where one can go to rest and rejuvenate.
4
The concept is executed through the balance of light and dark using architectural forms such as hallway’s trajectories, space within a space, and lighting coves. All of which are designed to provoke curiosity, discoveries, surprises, and peace.

CONFERENCE HUDDLES
STEELCASE NEXT COMPETITION Office Design | 12,550 SF | Fall 2018 Programs: Revit, Photoshop
A settlement and development office designed based on the concept of storytelling including: exchange of speech, experiences, writing and reading, entertainments, and classic bonfire. The open concept arrangement motivates information sharing; circular “huddles”—inspired by bonfires—are created for group work and small conferences; and a “stage” is created for large conferences and events. Storytelling and information sharing not only create unity and inspirations within the company, but it also increase the company’s prospect of selling the project, as construction projects not only come with the product itself, but also a history and a story to come.

The forms and space of NEXT: Story are inspired by various forms of storytelling: the pure, old bonfire; exchange of speech; experiences; writing and reading; and entertainments. The meeting area and “Huddles” are in circular shapes to recreate the classic bon-fire experience, where old stories are shared and new stories develop among a group of close-knit
people. A part of the café is also arranged similar to a stage where events and entertainments can be held. Each program and moment are arranged similar to a landscape with rivers, forests, and caves relating back to pre-settlement Colorado and the ‘nomadic’ plan of the space.

Incorporating nomadic office culture into the design is one of the most essential requirement of this project. To accomplish this, I chose this specific furniture solution because of its versatility. It is a private space with acoustic paneling, yet grouped together with multi-fuctional parts so the employees can choose to converse and cooperate when needed. Moreover, the storages and included stationaries will be of similar structure and system, which will stimulate cohesiveness and support the nomadic culture of this office. .

19 Quarters restaurant is a restoration concept for a vacant Firestone building constructed back in 1927 in Gainesville, FL. Our team is inspired by the 1920’s pre-war culture and the Great Gatsby, a setting where people can socialize without distractions from electronic devices.

We want to create a unique dining experience by combining fine-dining, 1920’s theme, and vintage mechanical “arcade” games. The name “19 Quarters” (a play on 19 25) is used to capture the 1920’s atmosphere and the tokens used to play the games. This restaurant provides a flexible dining environment where customers can move around, play games, and enjoy a great American dinner.

BMW BRANDING Corporate Office Deisgn | Spring 2018 Programs: AutoCAD, 3DS MAX, Photoshop
The purpose of this project is to learn about project branding through concept, forms, and materialality. I have chosen BMW because of personal interest in the brand and how they have stylized their products to be distinctive and immediately recognizable. I want to carry this thought processs and make the interior feels like a smooth transition or extension from their automobiles. To create this effect, I incorporated BMW automobile’s recognizable forms and materials directly into the interior through upholstery, furniture, and light fixture.

FLOAT : CREEK INTERVENTION Summer 2019 | TH OWL Summer Exchange | Multidiscliplinary Programs : Revit, Photoshop In collaboration with : Cindy Chen Responsibilities : Concept, Exterior shell 3D modeling, scene render.
Float is a foodscape concept that uses the unutilized spaces in the creeks of Detmold, Germany. The structures act as creek interventions that provide spaces for multiple programs such as a greenhouse, a cafÊ, and various seating areas. The purpose is for Detmold’s population to enjoy a new, but existing scenery and experience, produce own food, become more sustainable, and utilize unused spaces. Float is the smaller-scale result within an urban planning project that focuses on foodscapes and sustainability..

The materials of these capsules are chosen to suit the purpose and the unique setting that it will sit on. The exterior is supported by steel structures and/or PVC pipes covered by clear, soft, inflatable façade. This combination is designed to create a flexible structure that will not be disrupted when there are slight changes in the river or rocks condition. The soft covering will also reflect UV lights and keep in the

The flooring of the structure is made with steel mesh, which allows the inhabitants to see the running water below as well as making the interventions noninvasive to the natural water level fluctuations. The flooring can also be replaced with wooden planks arranged similar to a floating raft to offer a more mundane and naturalistic finish.

CODEX PHANTASOS
Professor : Lee-Su Huang | Fall 2017 Programs : Hand Drafting, Photoshop, Handmade Models
The project Codex Phantasos sets in an imaginary world derived from a mixture of two passages from the novel “The Invisible Cities” and an imaginary creature from “Codex Seraphinianus”. The deliverables of this project includes: a story; sketch diagrams; site model based on Venice, Italy (constructed with Katarina Negron and Alex Levin); three abstract models, each for place of rest, observation, and gathering; section renderings; and a pamphlet. My product of Codex Phantatsos is “Sappherina”, a city of water, with “Aqualugs” as its inhabitants.
Moving southward, you come upon Sappherina, a city of water with concentric canals, network of streets spans and intersect each other, and kites flying over it. Inside its canal walls, Sappherina houses a certain large, spiky, slug species called aqualug that loiters around every inhabitable space and bodies of water in this city. The aqualugs are naturally hostile and greedy creatures that can harden their spikes to attack or to protect themselves. However, the desire of the people has empowered them to domesticate the creatures and use them as transportation devices called ‘Aquamounts’; carts, boats, or sleds would be tied to a part of the aqualug’s body, enabling it to function similar to a carriage and pull people around the city.
54
The network of routes in Sappherina is not arranged on one level, but combining segments of the various routes, elevated or on ground level, each inhabitant can ride through and enjoy. The illicit lovers move along higher, discontinuous ways, and the woman bathing in the pool of a garden who sometimes—it is said—invite the stranger to disrobe with them and chase them in the water. Below, in the darkness of the sewers, conspirators and smugglers drag crusts of cheese, contraband goods, kegs of gunpowder, crossing the city’s compactness pierced by the spokes of underground passages.
Observation
Here when you are in the heart of this city, your desires waken all at once and surround you. The enticement of agate, onyx, chrysophrase, and sapphire lingers at every corner of Sappherina. The Aqualugs too, absorbs the colors of these desirable stones and blend themselves in with the heart of this city. A map of Sappherina should include all these routes, solid and liquid, evident and hidden. The city appears to you as a whole where no desire is lost and of which you are a

part, and you can do nothing but inhabit this desire and be content. Such is the power, sometimes called malignant, sometimes benign, dominating from every point of their airy paths all points of the treacherous city.
