TRY THIS WEEK:
Catalan Sandwich @ Le Frigo
LE FRIGO is a delightful Euro-style deli and market, with a walk-in
cheese refrigerator, shelves filled with imported goodies like olives, sauces, jams, pastas and more, and a full deli that serves excellent sandwiches (and darn good home-made pretzels). We opted for the Catalan sandwich on a recent visit — succulent, robust strips of jámon Serrano paired with aioli, thin and spicy chorizo, piquant manchego cheese and spicy arugula. The baguette on which it’s served has a pleasant, crunchy crust and a soft crumb, and the elements in the sandwich are wellapportioned and vibrant.

1 n Drink this: Pumphouse Brewery’s Red Alert Amber Ale THE DAY HAS finally come where we can once again enter a watering hole, sidle up to the bar and enjoy a cold one. There won’t be much to watch on the TV, and we won’t be able to stay long, but you got to start somewhere. Times like these call for a standard, and Longmont’s Pumphouse Brewery Red Alert Amber Ale is a bona fide classic. Two-row pale, caramel, biscuit and chocolate malts lay the base, and Northern Brewer and Cascade hops bring the spice. It tastes like memories, the kind without concession. Welcome back.
