During the Nala Local MunicipalityMayoralImbizo,held at the Katoloso Primary School in Ward3,Bothaville,theMayor,Me Lilo Mashiya Ntema said to onlookers that the municipality need a bigger fleet to guarantee better service delivery She mentioned that the acquisition of two TLBs in August this year has proved fruitful in terms of cost containment “The municipality is savingcostsitpreviouslyincurred a month when it had to use contractors to dig graves. ” She furthermore said: “The municipality is looking at purchasing more fleets to enhance revenue and service deliveryandtomakethispossible the municipality has put in place plans to reduce workers’ overtime The plan to reduce overtime is bearing positive results We have managed to reduce our overtime bill from R16 million to R11 million” Mashiya Ntema further indicated during her address that if the

need for overtime cannot be curbed, then it means that the workforce needs to be strengthened by employing more people The Mayor pleaded with Nala residents to pay their municipal accounts. “If we can increase our revenue, the municipality will be able to buy the fleet needed to fix our gravel roads, and efficiently provide other services such as electricity and sanitation.” Taking all of this into consideration, Eskom has recentlysaid in themediathat16 Free State municipalities collectively owe Eskom over R17 billion for services rendered. Eskom’s FreeState spokesperson, Titi Makhetha, says the amount owed by municipalities has increased by R26 billion since August 2021 adding that this is weakening the functioning of the utility On average, they, all 16 together, consume R200 million (97GWh) of energy monthly The Nala Local Municipality has been namedasoneoftheculprits.

Man rape woman who raised him

The Bothaville magistrate’s court recently sentenced a 34 year old man to life imprisonment for raping a 75 year old woman in December last year. Magistrate Basi Mahlatsi also found Mvula Mashiya guilty of breaking into the woman's house on December 23 last year Mashiya was also sentenced to an additional five years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances “On the day of the incident, the complainant was asleep when she heard noise in another room, around 11pm. “She went to investigate and saw Mashiya, who forced her back into the bedroom, assaulted her, and raped her several times,” National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said last week. He said Mashiya searched the house and took R300 before he left. The complainant called the police

and Mashiyawas arrested a few hours later. “In court, Mashiya denied raping the complainant and said he was at home when the incident happened But he contradicted himself when he said he arrived home at 8pm, whereas in his arresting statement, he said he arrived home at 10pm,” Shuping said Prosecutor Thabang Makokwe presented a victim impact statement facilitated by Khantse Skhosana, in which the survivor said the incident had affected her asshenolonger trustsmen, even her family members “The complainant knows the parents of the accused, and the accused grew up in front of her, which means she was violated in the most inhumane way by a child sheraised Ina seriouscase like this, the personal circumstances of the accused must recede in the background and the court must impose life imprisonment ontheaccused,”Makokwesaid

Ingredients

30 ml (2 Tbsp) sunflower oil

1 onion, peeled and finely chopped

1 green pepper, finely chopped 3 carrots, peeled and grated

30 ml (2 Tbsp) Robertsons

Braai & Grill Spicy BBQ

45 ml (3 Tbsp) Knorr Chakalaka Soup

125 ml (½ cup) water

700 g Boerewors6 bread rollsbutter (optional)

100 g feta cheese, crumbled

Heattheoilinasaucepanandfrytheonionsandgreen peppersuntilsoftAddthegratedcarrotsandsautéfora further 10 minutes, or until softened Add the Robertsons Braai & Grill Spicy BBQ and stir for 1 minute.In a small bowl, make a smooth mixture of the Knorr Chakalaka Soup and water, and add this to the saucepan. Stir well and simmer over a medium low heat for 15 20 minutes, or until the chakalaka reaches the desired consistencyBraai the boerewors over low to medium coals until cooked through, taking care not toburnitontheoutside Removefromthegridandcut into portionsSlice the rolls lengthways, and butter them (optional). Place a boerewors piece in each roll and top with the chakalaka and crumbled feta.Serve hot.
