Legislative Agenda EDUCATION The Bossier Chamber of Commerce believes in investing in education from beginning to end. The Chamber wants a top-notch education from Pre-K through Higher Education that produces a quality workforce, improves the quality of lives, and drives economic development. In order to keep our community competitive, we must invest in education to invest in the future growth of our economy.

HB381 GEYMANN - COMMON CORE: OPPOSE Creates the Student Standards Commission to develop state standards for required subjects for public school students. Involuntarily deferred in House Education Committee on April 2nd. HB558 HENRY - COMMON CORE: OPPOSE: Prohibits administration of Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers assessments and provides for continuation of La. Educational Assessment Program tests and the standards on which such tests are based. Involuntarily deferred in House Education Committee on April 2nd. HB1033 KLECKLEY - WISE FUND: SUPPORT: Provides for enactment of the Workforce and Innovation for a Stronger Economy (WISE) Fund. Passed the House floor on April 9th and is now pending Senate introduction. SB526 ALARIO - WISE FUND: SUPPORT: Provides for enactment of the Workforce and Innovation for a Stronger Economy (WISE) Fund. Was considered on March 24th and is pending Senate Finance. Companion bill to HB1033.
