Working
from The Gear--May 2023
by Bosco Tech
Our hats are off to our students who’ve been working out together during lunch in the Yurak Athletic Center’s weight room all year! They’re supervised by Mr. Carlos Plantillas, Dean of Student Services, a former P.E. and football coach. Coach Plantillas’ goal has always been to instill a lifelong learning of a healthy lifestyle and fitness.
“I encourage every young man to exercise regularly and live a healthy lifestyle through work outs, sports, proper diet and positive mind set,” he says. “Along with working out, they often ask for advice on how to begin or change their workout routine, eating plans, and gaining a positive attitude and outlook on life.”
“Studies have shown weight lifting and exercising regularly can reduce the amount of stress, produced by the daily grind of high school and ‘teen life’ bring. Exercising regularly is a positive outlet for anyone and I'm thrilled the school offers that opportunity to our young men during our lunch hour.”
Great job, gentlemen; thank you, Coach Plantillas!

Tech College Week 2023
The Tech’s 2023 College Week offered insights for students from all class years to help even our youngest Techmen to consider and plan their academic career. Beginning with a presentation to sophomores from UC Riverside, to instruction in the application process from UC system representatives, to guidance on taking the next step for seniors already admitted to Cal Poly, Pomona, the week’s activities offered practical guidance. Whittier College and Woodbury University even offered Instant Decision Days for interested seniors.
