Debbie Millman – 7Up Logo 1995. The type of domestic 7up logo is simpler and more minimalistic without sacrificing recognizability. The “7” and “up” seem to have more in common than the same parts of the lettering in the international logotype. The 7up logo indicates a special zest in the form of sharp fizzy gas bubbles that improve the absorption of soda. The emblem contains naturalness, purity, and sourness from the filler with lime green. What does the 7 in 7Up stand for? The soda went through a name change to 7 Up Lithiated Lemon Soda, before finally settling on just 7 Up, and a formula with no added lithium. The 7 in the name has no confirmed source, but several theories about its origin. “As PepsiCo’s third-largest global brand, 7Up had a look that was borderline clinical. The brand needed a redesign that would connect with a broader audience. The new global identity system embodies the new positioning around refreshment and flair, building on the brand’s witty and lighthearted personality” (Heller, 2019). According to Heller, this new design was meant to reach a broader audience. I think that kids would be drawn to this drink because of the colors, and the little bubbles surrounding the main logo. In addition to that, I find this design classic and I believe that people in the older generation would still be drawn to this drink. 7Up is a beverage brand known the world over. 7UP seems to constantly be in a state of identity crisis, so I think it makes sense for the latest design attempttotakeastepbackandexploretherootsofthe brand. The “UP” part of the name referred to the lithium moodlift.
