Harlow ’09 Shares Gratitude with Bolles George Harlow ’09 shared a plane ride with Head of Upper School Moya Marks recently and responded to her request to provide an update on his life and career. Below is the note he sent to Marks. I attended The Bolles School since Kindergarten in 1997. I graduated in 2009 with a passion for both art and math. I remember taking AP Calculus with Mrs. Reinschmidt and AP Portfolio with Mr. Bied my senior year, two of my favorite classes. My portfolio focused on drawing homes, transitioning from realism to abstract using cubism. Looking back, I realize this is where my passion for architecture and design began. I then attended the University of Central Florida where I studied Civil Engineering, knowing it encompassed both of my passions. It was a bumpy road at first, but I quickly learned that this was exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I am now a licensed Engineer Intern (E.I.) working at Baker Klein Engineering in Jacksonville. My specialty is in site planning and storm water management, although I occasionally perform structural engineering services for residences. I plan to sit for my Professional Engineer Exam (P.E.) in the next three years where I will then be able to sign off on my own designs. Bolles not only created the path to my career, but provided me with irreplaceable friendships that I’ve kept since Kindergarten. To this day, we still travel to see each other even though we are all living in different cities. I am forever grateful to the Bolles community for leading me to my career, instilling an honor system that I still abide by, and giving me life-long friends. I just wanted to voice my opinion and give credit to the School that made me who I am.
