Like all the other members of Teach for America — Jacksonville’s corps, she has made a two year commitment to teaching in the Duval district. Teach for America Jacksonville began its partnership with the Duval schools in 2008, and the collaboration has been a great thing for the system, the young instructors and countless students. Nicole graduated last year from the University of Florida. Jake Mendelson represented the United States for the third time in international competition in August, competing for the USRowing National Team at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. (See sidebar on right.) Stacey Stanfield coordinated donations from the current Bolles swim team to help Louisiana flood victims. (See sidebar on page 61.)
Jake Mendelson ’12
Mendelson ’12 Represents U.S. at U23 World Rowing Championships Jake Mendelson ’12 represented the United States for the third time in international competition in August, competing for the USRowing National Team at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He served as a coxswain with the U.S. Senior Men’s National Team 2+ in 2015 and was a 2012 Junior National Team member.
Brett Morgan ’12 Brett Morgan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida in 2016 and is currently attending William & Mary Law School. In the spring of 2015, Brett studied abroad and served as Parliamentary Assistant for Tom Brake MP in the British House of Commons. He also recently interned for The Honorable Brian J. Davis in the United States Courts. 2013 Holly Cummins passed away on October 3, 2015. She was a member and social media director at the Alpha Phi sorority, and a member of the Garnet and Gold Guides. She was also involved for the past three years in “Dance Marathon,” a charity for the Children’s Miracle Network. Holly was a member of the Dean’s List and President’s List, and had just begun her senior year at Florida State University. FSU posthumously awarded an honorary degree to Holly during their December graduation ceremony.

Mendelson was selected based on his performance at the US Men’s U23 National Team Selection Camp this past summer in Hanover, New Hampshire. He served as coxswain for the men’s eight. He was one of 36 athletes invited to particpate in the camp, 32 rowers and four coxswains, and the only coxswain selected. Mendelson helped his crew advance to the semifinals at the World Championships. Prior to the national team camp and world championships, Mendelson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
