The Basque Market has been serving some of Boise’s best bites since 2000 and it’s also one of the Treasure Valley’s favorite caterers. Readers tell us they love to head for the Basque Block to linger over the market’s pintxos (Basque for “tapas”), dessert and a glass of wine. And downtowners really swarm when The Basque Market cooks up a pan of paella on the sidewalk on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, and Thursday evenings. The aroma is enough to drive anyone wild. basquemarket.com

There were dozens of nominations in this category this year; but once more, Best of Boise voters put Summit at the top of the list. Readers had particular praise for Dr. Zach Richardson: “Dr. Zach listens so well, he always provides some humor, and he’s particularly great with kids. His extensive knowledge also makes me feel well cared for.” Extra praise goes to Summit’s team of professionals who have traveled to Cambodian villages to provide much-needed care as part of International Medical Relief. boise-dentists.com 2ND PLACE: Tree City Family Dental, treecitydental.com 3RD PLACE: Downtown Dental, rkdds.com

RICOCHET HOME CONSIGNMENT It’s all about the “awesome prices” according to one BW reader who cast a vote for Ricochet as Boise’s best. Voters praised Ricochet’s consignment furniture selection for living and dining rooms, bedrooms and more. The highest praise pointed to Ricochet’s continually updated online photo galleries, which reveal what’s new in the showroom. One reader said Ricochet was “absolutely the best consignment place in Idaho. THE BASQUE MARKET
Best of Boise applauded Flying M for having “the best coffee in Boise,” and “deliciously good culture.” To be sure, there’s an ever-growing list of coffee roasters in Boise, but Flying M tops the list. Kevin and Lisa Myers and friend Kirk Montgomery opened Flying M in 1992, and for nearly three decades, the coffeehouse has been a Boise destination. In 1995, Kevin purchased a 12-kilo Diedrich drum coffee roaster, and to this day, all of the coffee is still roasted in the purple drum. flyingmcoffee.com

BEST ETHNIC MARKET
For just under a year, a lot of people in Boise’s East End neighborhood thought the Roosevelt Market, the longtime bodega across the street from the elementary school of the same name, would share the fate of so many historic Boise locations, becoming the site of yet another condo or chain coffee shop. Then, something miraculous happened. The property owners announced they would reopen the Roosevelt Market in November 2019 under new management: Dave “DK” and Sarah Kelly, formerly of Bleubird and currently of Petite 4, a Frenchinspired bistro on the Boise Bench. The new, improved Roosevelt will sell many of the same products as its predecessor, but will also offer Bleubird-inspired sandwiches, meat and cheese boards, prepared foods, baked goods and throwback penny candies for school children. At a launch party in April, DK and Sarah handed out Sarah’s award-winning chocolate chip cookies and milk, and talked about the ins and outs of their arrangement with owners Pamela Lemley and Jill Simplot, like a stipend to hire staff and management so that they can run the Roosevelt three to four days a week without sacrificing Petite 4. —Harrison Berry BOISE WEEKLY.COM
