POTTERY FOR KIDS

BOOGIE BABIES PARENT/TODDLER
Parents and toddlers will love exploring movement and music together in this class! Toddlers will be introduced to a classroom setting in a fun and welcoming way. They will develop motor skills, begin learning how to follow directions and interact with others, and of course, there’ll be a whole lot of boogieing going on! This class encourages little ones to move freely and expressively. The instructor’s expectations and the music used are age appropriate. Parents and toddlers should wear comfortable clothes and parents should be prepared to participate in all activities. Class is for 45 minutes each week. YOUTH MODERN
Modern Dance offers a wonderful movement adventure that not only cultivates physical coordination and confidence, but also creative expression and problem solving. This helps young girls and boys develop their artistic voices and ability to be creative thinkers in every capacity – academically, socially, and artistically. Modern dance cultivates skillful, thinking dancers, who will have a lifelong love of movement and art! Dancers should wear comfortable clothing (snug fitting t-shirts and stretch/yoga pants, that cover knees for floor work), bare feet and hair pulled back. Please have dancers use the bathroom before class. Parents can enjoy observing class through the studio windows!
MODERN 1
Modern 1 takes 1st-3rd grade dancers through a full body BrainDance warm-up that includes technique, rhythm and choreography. A jumbo obstacle course and across the floor combinations provide repetition to master dance skills. Students will begin learning inversions and floor work and experimenting with fall and recover, strength vs. release, and weight vs. suspension. Further exploration of space, time, and force will happen through learning choreography and opportunities for students to create their own movement – all of which help them to develop their creative voices and feel empowered by the ways they move!
