The Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS) beautiful organic garden not only produces vegetables and flowers but also youth and adults who learn and absorb the fundamentals of gardening though science, health and environmental based lessons and activities. BUGS understands that a student that is able to dig in the soil, plant a seed, and watch it grow will be excited to eat the fruits of their labor, and will understand the science behind healthy soil, sprouting seeds, photosynthesis and more.

CULINARY CAMP PROGRAMS WHAT’S COOKING UNIVERSITY
Spend a week or two in the BUGS kitchen learning how to create meals that include fresh garden produce that you’ll harvest from our education garden. Each day students will prepare and enjoy healthy lunches while learning the basics of cooking including: knife skills, sautéing, baking, and much more. The BUGS education garden and its resident plants and animals will provide a rich learning experience for younger participants in this new summer camp. Each day will include time to explore in the garden, harvesting and tasting, story time, garden arts, crafts and games and a fresh garden lunch. SEED TO HARVEST
When campers join us in the BUGS education garden they will connect with nature, discover the source of their food, and learn the science behind sprouting seeds. Students will participate in a variety of garden lessons and activities that may include: plants parts and growth, planting, composting (backyard & worm), soil science, garden critters (insects) and garden arts and more! A fresh garden lunch is provided each day of the camp. FARM TO MARKET- 5 WEEK CAMP
Spend five weeks at the BUGS garden to learn the ins and outs of being an urban gardener. During this multiweek camp participants will learn everything from science based gardening concepts to how to price and sell produce at a market stand here in Comba Park. Participant will receive a fresh garden lunch each day of camp. NOTE: There will not be programming the week of July 4th. JUNIOR BEE KEEPER CAMP
BUGS is getting bee hives and we’re excited to offer an all new camp that will let participants get hands on! Campers will spend five days learning everything from the basics of pollination to how honey bees live. Once we have the basics down we’ll suit up and get hands on with the bees, learning how to handle, harvest and process honey from our hives. WRITING IN THE ROWS JOIN THE CABIN AT BUGS - AUGUST 13-17
Plant the seeds of great poems, stories and more as you dig in and explore the grounds of Boise Urban Garden School with a Cabin teaching-writer. Campers also receive education sessions by BUGS staff. Come think and write about this inspiring environment where food, plants, and minds grow!
