Muirhead & Bohrson Welcome We would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to our annual bull sale. In the past year we have experienced a lot of winter but also a strong fall market which looks to only be strengthening. Yes the future looks very good for the beef industry. 2014 will bring many changes around the ranch with the fifth generation of Muirhead Cattle Co due to arrive early April. As well, we are moving all calving to April and May. The entire herd is ranch-raised and not pampered. We have always culled hard on feet and udders. Cows that can’t do it on their own and rebreed in a 45 day breeding season go to town, no second chances. As for the bulls, the yearlings are as consistent a group that we’ve had for a while, with lots of hair, they are bunch of thick, stout rascals with a few calving ease bulls in the mix. The two year old bulls which are our future, are the same type with a lot of the same sires as the yearlings. They are grown out and fed to last, ready to go out and breed those extra cows without being babysat and then easily wintered with the herd bulls. It’s just that easy! The bulls are very well balanced throughout and are stout, soft made, hairy and complete. Buy with confidence, as the Muirhead cowherd is extremely sound, strong uddered and are hard working cows that have to pay their way to stay around. The cows are selected and go through a strict process to earn their keep to stay around. Customer Profile - Deeg Simmentals Deeg Simmental is a family run purebred operation that is located 25 miles east of the Calgary Airport. We run 160 purebred Simmental cows and grain farm close to 5000 acres. We sell 35 bulls a year annually in a joint bull sale with Westway Farms (The Hadway Family) the first Thursday of March in Olds, AB. We have used Muirhead bulls annually for the last half a dozen years and they have worked very well for us. The females are exceptional and the bulls are very saleable. Calving ease is a big deal for us and our customers, the Muirhead bulls and four females we own from them have light birth weights and pass on their easy calving to their offspring. After going through their cow herd its great to see the feet udders they have worked hard on breeding into the herd. It makes us very confident buying cattle from them knowing their hard culling procedures and it is always a pleasure to work them. 2
