But Hungarian police cached us and they beat us. They didn’t care about my children, they were all injured by dogs, my wife also. They beat me with fists on my face, they injured my arm by kicking me and stepping on me. I was really scared for my children and wife. We are still in camp in Krnjaca, and I don’t know when are we going to cross again.

V. EVENT DATA: 4. Exact location of event: Hungarian border 5. Date of event: 17.07.2016. 6. Event description Me, Ali and Siamak are here in Serbia for more than a month, and we tried to cross the Hungarian border for 4 times. We went to Subotica by bus, and when we got there we saw a smuggler who arrange us the taxi to go to the border. When we got to the border, smuggler cut the fence and told us to go in, but he didn’t come with us so we had to use our GPS to move around. On the Hungarian side they have high technology-projector of movement, helicopter with a camera which is patrolling all the time, and also some parts of the border fence have cameras. We were in Hungary, walking for couple of hours when police cached us. They were equipped with tear gas, a big tank they were wearing on their back, guns, shockers, knifes. The worst for me wasn’t the physical abuse, but psychological. For example, they would put us all on the ground and then give us their hand to help us get up, but then all of a sudden start to beat us again. Also, with Serbian police you can talk, but with them, when you ask them something they just start laughing, come near to your face and put pepper spray on you. They also put us on the ground and not beat us right away, but the expectation of beating is what makes the psychological torture. They put a gun in my face, they didn’t shoot, but were threatening to shoot, they beat me so hard that I still have blood in my urine.

IX. EVENT DATA: 7. Exact location of event: Hungarian border 8. Date of event: 24.07.2016. 9. Event description This is the second time I tried to cross the Hungarian border. We started with smugglers from Belgrade, and went up to the border. There were 12 of us. The smuggler cut the fence and we came in. We were walking through the corn field for couple of hours, and then went out on the main road where we also were for couple of hours. I think we were 40 km inside Hungary when police cached us. They put us all in one big car and drove back to the border. When we came there they took us out of the car, and started beating everybody. They were hitting us with their legs and fists, yelling at us if we come back they will do much worst. Beside Hungarian police, there were also German, Austrian police officers. Also, they were using teasers and pepper spray. They were all beating us, I have injuries on my legs, neck and all over my body.

Event description We came into Hungary and walked for four hours through corn field, when police cached us. They had dogs and pepper spray, and were pushing us back. While pushing us back they hit us with their legs, and with nightsticks. While doing that they were saying “This is not a Putin’s nor Obama’s country, this is our country” and “If I catch you here one more time, I will kill you”. When we came to the wire wall, there was one police officer on both sides, so while we were crossing back they were hitting us with their legs and pepper sprayed us. XVII. EVENT DATA: 13. Exact location of event: Hungarian border 14. Date of event: 22.07.2016. 15. Event description There were 15 of us coming to the border with smuggler, but when we crossed the border, only 4 of us were left, because 7 of them were caught by the police immediately, and 4 of them couldn’t pass the border at all. So we were in the corn field with a smuggler for 1 hour when he decided to leave us there because there were only 4 of us and he didn’t want to call a car for us only. So he went and we were left alone not knowing where we are going. We were walking for some time when we went out to the main road, and that is when police cached us. We were relieved they found us because we didn’t know where to go, and we thought they would help us. But they didn’t. They put us in a car and drove back to the border where we were put with other guys who were found on different place. I wasn’t beaten but my friend was, they were beating him with fists on the head because he was talking when they said not to talk, and also with their legs. He was badly injured and stay in camp in Subotica. I showed them my ID card form Afghanistan, and they told me that I was a Taliban, that I work for ISIS, and that they would not let any of us in. They put a gun on my head, yelling why are you Muslims killing all those innocent people in Europe, they were talking about something that happened in

Germany and France, about some attacks but I tried to explain that I wasn’t a terrorist. They didn’t want to listen. When they were done, they open the border fence and pushed us back. On that side were Serbian police officers, who helped us to go to see doctors.

16. Exact location of event: Hungarian border 17. Date of event: 05.06.2016. 18. Event description I was in a group of 12 people with a smuggler trying to pass the border. We came to the fence, smuggler cut it and we got in. We were in corn fields walking for few hours, and then after some time we went out on the road where there were cars going to catch a car that was going to take us further. But when we got out on the road police cached us. They drove us back to the border, and then started to beat us. They also let dogs on us, I had scratches from dogs all over my face, and bruises all over my body, because police kicked me and beat me with a stick. In the end they put pepper spray on us and pushed us back through a little hole in the fence, so we got injured more. I didn’t try to cross the border again, and I am not sure if I am going to try.
