Delegate Handbook

Message from Organizing Committee President Ignition Summit (Yeah)! Hello there! I will keep this message short. I’m glad you’ve opened this manual. You must be excited for the upcoming three days in the event of the year. The conference development team has shed blood, sweat and gas money to create Ignition Summit 2019: Go The Distance, sacrificing our own time and energy. We hope that this conference is a worthwhile experience for you, demigods. In behalf of our team, I thank you for being our delegate and we cannot wait to see you this weekend. Prepare yourself for what the gods have in store! Zoe Lim Organizing Committee President

Message from Local Committee President Elect Hey there! For the newies — first and foremost, welcome to AIESEC! I know the process of getting here was not a walk in the park but one thing is for sure, you made it! And just for that alone, I am already so proud of each and every one of you. Now, I know it may seem a bit daunting to be taking on a new journey but I just want you all to know that although it may be a challenging one, it will truly make you grow and realize the potential you never thought you had. Exactly a year ago, I was just like you, a newie. And throughout just one year, I was be able to develop and grow in ways that I never thought was even possible. I started off as one of the more introverted newies and was always afraid to share my thoughts and ideas with everyone. I often stayed at the back of the room and crossed my fingers hoping that I would not be called for sharing. And now thinking back at everything, I never would have imagined that after just one year, I would be the one giving this message to all of you. So trust me when I say this, take on this new journey head on and I promise you, it will all be worth it. And for that, I can’t wait to see you all begin your own respective AIESEC journeys!

Message from Local Committee President Elect For the oldies — I know it has been one rollercoaster of a ride to get to where we are today, but I just want to say, thank you. I cannot emphasize how thankful I am for each and every one of you for staying no matter how hard it may be at times. Thank you for keeping your passion for AIESEC alive and for always believing in what we do. I am so grateful for everything you have all done and I can’t wait to see what greater heights we can take this organization to together! Now, as we welcome the newies to our home, I hope that you could all guide them as they start their own journeys and be a mentor to help them develop to be the best version of themselves. Now, as we begin this new chapter, I want you all to be brave. Be brave to take on any challenge. Be brave to stand back up when you fall. But most importantly, be brave to be you. It will be one hell of a journey ahead but enjoy the ride and let’s take on this new chapter together! Chantal Nogar, Local Committee President elect

WHAT IS IGNITION SUMMIT? Ignition Summit is a 3-day conference, for new members it is the start of their journey as full-edged AIESECers. This conference provides an avenue for them to meet and create friendships with other members, as well as to learn more about the organization and what it is that we do, how we do it and why we do it. For the oldies, this is where we go back to the basics of what it means to be a part of AIESEC, and to live out our why. For all that will attend the conference, the sessions and activities prepared all lead to one goal: ignite their passions to make a difference, not just in AIESEC, but in the world. Together, we will GO THE DISTANCE.
