6-Hour Defensive Driving Course - Point & Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) (Preregistration required) DMV - Approved Defensive Driving Course which is an excellent way for experienced drivers to earn a discount on automobile liability insurance, and improve their skills at accident prevention. A 10 percent discount on automobile liability and physical damage premiums for three years. This is an additional discount mandated by New York State regardless of participant’s driving record or current insurance premiums. A four-point reduction on current driving record. CDL Refresher Courses
