Introduction to Culinary Basics

COMPUTER BASICS & APPLICATIONS Web Design with HTML (online)

Create your own web page in 8 chapters. Students will be able to identify good design elements, find new tips and tricks, as well as useful software to help them build, maintain and monitor their website. You will learn the basic HTML coding, including tags, images, icons, text, and advance to create animated icons and add sound and movies. (Book not included.) Accounting Fundamentals

This is a general view of accounting to inspire, inform and highlight aspects many would not normally consider in the accounting profession. This would be for those interested in learning about accounting and its practices. A focus will be on those aspects that will be of practical value to students – what is needed to properly record business functions for key fundamental business aspects such as bank accounts, merchandise purchasing and sales, receivables, payables, assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, taxes and so on. Event Planning

Furthermore, there will be a review of the comparison and contrast between the current ICD-9 and the new ICD-10 coding systems including chapter and 3-digit category changes. Learn about GEMS and mapping between the coding systems. Considerations for timeline implementation readying facilities for this change are also discussed. A Look Into The World Of Hospitality

This course will open the door to the many aspects of hospitality services. It will cover topics from food and beverage, lodging, recreation, travel and tourism. Service is the heart of hospitality, you will learn how to serve your customer and how to meet their needs. You will learn communication skills and handling customer complaints. A 2-hour seminar, introducing the pivotal changes about the conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10 coding system, will explain why this change will be made in 2014, how this change affects providers, payers, information technology and why this system is better for reimbursement.

This 7-week course will give the student the necessary training and skills they need to plan occasions such as family and corporate events. Topics covered include: initial planning & budgeting, organization and timing, locations, transportation, venue requirements, food and beverage, guests and their accommodations, and much more. Culinary (definition: of or related to a kitchen or cookery). In this class the student will be introduced to the culinary world. Understanding the basics is essential to both the professional chef and home cook. You will learn basic cooking techniques (pan searing, brazing, poaching, etc.), equipment identification, food identification, knife skills (dicing, chopping, slicing etc.) and food safety. At the end of this class you will have a basic foundation and better understanding of cooking fundamentals.

This course will give you fundamental information needed to start and operate your own small business. You will look at the opportunities from starting your own business, into buying an existing business to buying a franchise. You will learn the mechanics, marketing strategies, management, financing, legal, record keeping and all the key components required to successfully complete a business plan to start operating your own business.
