GENERAL INFORMATION… Q U A LIFIC A TIO N THE BMX AUSTRALIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE FOR AUSTRALIAN RIDERS ONLY. The 2013 National Championships will be run under the 2013 UCI Rulebook. You must hold a valid BMX Australia ‘Open’ or ‘Sprocket’ Membership to enter the BMX Australia National championships.

IF YOU ARE ENTERING A CHALLENGE OR MASTERS CATEGORY YOU NEED TO HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THIS EVENT THROUGH YOUR HOME STATE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT.

If you did not compete at this event you must submit a wild card application with a manual entry form (see wild card entries below).

Sprockets must have held their license for more than 6 months from the starting date of the 2013 National Championships (Tuesday 30 April 2013) to enter the 2013 BMX National Championships.

P R E TITL ES ENTRIES FOR PRE TITLES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 4PM FRIDAY 5 APRIL 2013. Pre Titles are run on the Wednesday preceding the National Championship event by BMX Australia. To be eligible to nominate for the pre titles you must have entered and paid for the 2013 BMX National Championships.

WILD C A R D ENTR I ES APPLICATIONS FOR A WILD CARD ENTRY MUST BE RECEIVED ON THE PRESCRIBED FORM BY 4PM FRIDAY 15 MARCH 2013.

The application form can be found at bmxaustralia.com.au and must be submitted with a manual entry form. You must NOT enter online if you are applying for a wild card entry.

Please be aware that this is an application process and each application will be judged on its merits against the reasoning and supporting evidence – it is not a guaranteed entry to the National Championships.

C LO S E O F ENTR I ES ONLINE & POSTED ENTRIES CLOSE STRICTLY AT 4PM TUESDAY 19 MARCH 2013. Please send posted entries via registered post to guarantee proof of delivery. Ordinary mail that gets

lost will not be an accepted excuse for entries not received or received late.

Dishonoured cheques and declined credit cards are classified as invalid entries. Entry fees and bank

charges incurred as a result of the above must be reimbursed to BMXA prior to close of entries to be accepted.


LA TE E NTR IES LATE ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 4PM MONDAY 25 MARCH 2013. Late entries will incur a $50 fee per class for every class entered.

A C C EP TA NC E O F E NTR IES It is the riders’ responsibility to check if an entry has been accepted. Notification of acceptance of all successful applicants will be done via the entry list on the BMXA website bmxaustralia.com.au.

Information will be updated on a regular basis. Please contact the BMXA office immediately on 02 9339 5800 if you have a query regarding your entry.

R EFU ND S No refunds will be given after close of entries for any reason. This provision applies irrespective of

subsequent injury or illness. Refunds issued prior to this date will incur an administration fee of $11.

M O TO D R A W The moto and lane draw will be processed after completion of registration. Only entrants who have

attended registration and confirmed their intention to compete in the event will be included in the race draw.

R A C ING NU M B ER S The race number you are supplied will be used for the entire 2013 BMX National Championships event. All competitors will be provided with a competition number plate & numbers assigned by BMXA which is the only plate to be used for the entire National Championships, including the National Series

Round. Riders entering the National Series Round 7 but NOT entering the National Championships will use their previously issued series plate.

Allocation of race numbers for Junior and Elite Classes will respect the assigned UCI BMX Permanent

Career Numbers.

Practice may be refused if the correct number plate is not displayed at all times whilst on the track.

D R U G TES TING As members of BMXA, all entrants agree to submit to the standard ASADA testing for the use of banned substances.

S P R O CK ET C LINIC A sprocket clinic will be conducted by BMXA with accredited coaches and is free to all “Sprocket

Rockets” who enter the National Championships. This will be held at the track on Wednesday morning

prior to pre titles (times to be confirmed).

Please note ALL SPROCKETS (both UCI and ARA) MUST take part in the clinic before they will be allowed

to ride on the track.

TR A NS P O ND ER S Transponders will be used in conjunction with a finish line camera system at the 2013 BMX National

Championships for UCI Challenge classes, Sprocket riders, and all Challenge and Championship riders. It is the riders’ responsibility to ensure that the transponder is correctly fitted to their bike. Hired

transponders must be returned to the race organiser at the conclusion of the event or once they have

finished competing, failure to do so will incur a cost to the rider of $150 plus recovery costs.

NOTE: Riders who use their own personal MyLaps ProChip transponder at the 2013 BMX National

Championships will receive a $5 discount. You must include your transponder number clearly on your entry to receive this discount.

TEA M S ENTR Y TEAM ENTRIES CLOSE 4PM MONDAY 25 MARCH 2013. Teams must enter using a MANUAL ENTRY FORM. Team rules & entry form can be found at bmxaustralia.com.au Team entry is $80 per team. You may nominate your riders up until 10AM THURSDAY 2 MAY 2013. Note: After closing time Team Managers may advise the Scoring Coordinator of a substitute rider to

replace a nominated team member who is unable to compete in the event due to injury. Any changes advised later that one hour prior to the commencement of racing on FRIDAY 3 MAY 2013 may not be accepted. If the rider that is replaced competes in the event then the team entry will be disqualified. Teams cover the following categories:

State Championship & Challenge Teams: Teams entered by State Associations

Club Teams: Teams entered by registered BMX Clubs

Corporate Teams: Teams entered by Pro Shops, manufacturers, business houses & other interested groups

Note: Only State teams will participate in the opening ceremony. All riders in the team must be in full State uniform for the opening ceremony.

RACING FORMAT & AGE DETERMINATION UCI transfer system applies for all categories except ARA Sprockets & UCI Challenge class Sprockets.

Block format applies.

Gate positions for motos as per UCI rule 6.1.021 Appendix 2. Gate positions for qualifying rounds as per UCI rule 6.1.021 Paragraph A. Current UCI Rules will apply as at the first day of competition. NOTE: Year of birth entry applies for all categories including Sprockets. Sprockets will run under scrambled moto draw.

2013 AWARDS NIGHT… The 2013 BMX Australia awards night will be held from 7pm Saturday 4 May 2013 at the Broncos

CODE OF ETHICS… RIDERS CODE OF CONDUCT

Observe the rules in the ‘UCI BMX Rule Book’.

Do not prevent other riders from riding to the best of their ability.

Never argue with an official, if you disagree consult the ‘Rider Advocate’. Treat all other riders as you yourself would like to be treated.

Profanities, threats, physical violence or harassment in any form towards other riders or officials is unacceptable.

Do not bully, harass or take unfair advantage of other riders.

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all riders and officials regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

Encourage your children to participate, do not force them.

Focus on your child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing. Appreciate good performance by all competitors and officials.

Respect officials’ decisions and teach your child to do likewise.

Never ridicule or yell at a rider for making a mistake or losing a race.

Never badger, harass or use sarcasm to motivate your child.

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every rider regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

OFFICIALS CODE OF CONDUCT

Be consistent and courteous when making decisions.

Keep up to date with the latest rules and trends in officiating.

Condemn unsporting behaviour and promote respect for all competitors. Be a good sport yourself - Actions speak louder than words.

Set an example, your comments should be positive and supportive.

Place the safety and welfare of riders above all else.

Give all competitors a “fair go” regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. MEMBER PROTECTION

BMXA aims to provide a sporting environment free of discrimination and harassment (sexual or otherwise) where individuals are treated with respect and dignity and where children are protected from abuse.

BMXA is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children is maintained during their

participation in BMX activities sanctioned by the association in accordance with the BMXA Member Protection Policy.

BMXA will not tolerate behavior which constitutes abuse, discrimination or harassment under any circumstances and will take disciplinary action against anyone who breaches this commitment. In submitting an entry form, I agree to the following terms:

1. I agree to abide by the BMX Australia Code of Ethics and Conduct.

2. I acknowledge that BMX Australia may take disciplinary action against me if I breach the Code of Ethics and Conduct. (I understand that BMX Australia is required to implement a complaints handling procedure in accordance with the principles of natural justice, in the event of an allegation against me).

3. I acknowledge that disciplinary action against me may include de-registration of myself or my child from the 2013 BMXA National Championships.

SPROCKET Sprockets who wish to enter the 2013 World Championships must qualify by riding in the UCI Challenge Class for Sprockets at the 2013 National Championships. UCI Challenge Class Sprockets will

ride with transponders and be timed. The top 16 qualifiers will be notified however no places or results will be advised at any time to any person. UCI CHALLENGE CLASS SPROCKETS

A rider must have turned 5 years of age to compete in a UCI class as of the starting date of the 2013

World Championships. The minimum age of 5 refers to the real calendar age on the day of race commencement.

ARA SPROCKET NON UCI CLASSES

AWARDS All athletes who have placed in the finals must attend awards ceremonies. Failure to do so will result in a fine and loss of award (including prize money). Riders who cannot attend awards ceremonies must

advise the Chief Commissaire or the Race Director with a valid reason. Riders must wear race apparel to awards ceremonies. Failure to do so will result in a fine and loss of award (including prize money).
