Course Description This subject aims to develop an understanding of how the UK government works and how people can participate in the political process through organisations such as pressure groups and political parties. The second year will examine different political ideologies including liberalism, socialism, conservatism and anarchism.

Course Description This course provides a broad educational base for further training or Higher Education. Learners will develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector. Learners may apply their learning to any of the following service-user groups: health, early years (care and education), care of older people, and individuals with specific needs.

Entry Requirements 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics and English, and a minimum average points score of 5.3. (One of the GCSEs must be in Accounts, Business or Science). (Students cannot undertake AS Computing and AS ICT at the same time).

Course Description This subject will help students to develop a greater awareness of the world around them since many of the events studied have changed the course of the 20th century. Even though some of these events happened years ago, their consequences are still evident in today’s world. Units studied include A World Divided Stalin’s Russia, 1924-53 Equality in USA, 1945-68 The Experience of Warfare in Britain, and 18541929 The Crimea, Boer and The First World War.

Course Description This subject will introduce students to the various hardware and software technologies used in ICT and how to apply them to different applications in real life. The course will also provide a solid grounding in ICT areas like transferring data, backups and the interface between people and ICT systems.
