steP 1: adding a levels adJustment laYer Let’s start by adding a Levels Adjustment layer to a photo in Photoshop. In the Adjustments panel, click the “Create a new Levels Adjustment layer” icon.
steP 2: Brightening uP the image with levels Next, move the white slider tab to the left to brighten up the image. I usually just pay attention to the food item (or whatever the main subject is) instead of the entire image when making this adjustment and ignore areas that become overexposed (the background, for example).
