See gravity defeated. Watch acrobats soar above oboes and dancers whirl among the violins. Be amazed at the strength and grace of the actors matched with the majesty and splendor of the Charlotte Symphony. lying hula hoops, juggling pins and one-armed handstands are not typical Symphony fare. But on November 25 & 26, in Cirque de la Symphonie, audiences will enjoy all that and more. Led by Associate Conductor Jacomo Rafael Bairos, the Charlotte Symphony will unite with a troupe of acrobats and actors for a tour de force for the eyes and ears. A production formed to combine the magic of circuses and symphonies, Cirque de la Symphonie is an exciting adaptation uniting musical and acrobatic performances. Artists include amazing aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, mimes and magicians, backed by the entire Symphony. The Cirque performance is uniquely adapted to share the stage with a full performing orchestra, with each artist’s performance is professionally choreographed to classical masterpieces and popular contemporary music. The combination of orchestra musicians and circus performers has been dubbed “astonishing” by The Seattle Times and the The Indianapolis Examiner called Cirque de la Symphonie “exquisite and breathtaking.”
