Editors Note I approached the creators of Blue Tick after they did a short presentation about the magazine in a class. I was drawn in by the creators’ passion to create, their willingness to step out of the norm, the drive to change the look and content of magazines. I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself and to challenge myself so imagine my face when they invited me to be one of the editors. I am part of a movement. This magazine covers issues that relate to being young adults and the trends and tricks of adulting and bring it to you in a spirited yet thought provoking manner. In this month’s issue we are on CHOICE. Choice is defined as the act of picking between two or more possibilities[Thank you Google dictionary]. Choosing to be the kind of person that truly represents you, your style, your smell your encounters. Choosing a course, choosing a bae. Life is all about making choices for you and for your life. A whole lot of men suffer from depression, bipolar, PTSD and anxiety and yet they're told that they can't have these things if they're a "real man". LY ON THE WAY WOMEN ARE SEEN AND TREATED IN THE WORLD? Not at all. It’s literally a voice on what we really thinking and really be feeling. All you ever hear are generalizations on how angry we are or sad we are never positivity. It’s a window of communication and if the world’s willing to listen then that’s one thing i’ve done right. But hell even if they don’t listen, if at least one black girl walks away prouder ,bolder and twice as magical then yep my job is really done! WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO DO ABOUT THAT? I can’t change the way the world treats us as black women, I can only hope to make a big enough difference. But this battle is not mine alone to fight. Prep 8 mins Cook 7 mins Serves 1 Ingredients 3 Tbsp wholemeal flour 1 Tbsp chopped walnuts 1 Tbsp poppy seeds 1/2 Tsp baking powder 1 large egg 1 medium ripe banana (mashed) 1 Tsp of honey 1/2 cup blueberries,rasp- berries or both 2 Tbsp Low-fat batural yogurt Instructions 1.In a bowl, combine flour, nuts, seeds and baking powder. If you had a choice, what would you choose? If you were chosen, what choices would you have? Which choice would you take? You are chosen to live, however, you have the choice to carry on living or to experience death. It is said in the Bible that the wise tend to think about death, this could probably be so because living comes with challenges and even life-threatening choices. Imagine your life flashing before your eyes and you starts realising the choices you had made leading to that phenomenon. You were given the eyes of your guardian angel for a few seconds, minutes or even an hour or two. Could you have chosen to experience that? In some instances yes, because you knew, for example, that you should have not been drinking and driving, and in some instances no, I do not think anyone choses to have stage 4 cancer. At the end of the day, after the sun running its cause on each day, you were faced with many choices. These choices will determine whether you see the next sunrise and the rest to come, or, will the moon kiss your forehead for the first time? You will then have no choice but to be mesmerized.
