quick & Easy plate changeovers The Les Mills SMARTBARTM has a head with retractable teeth (we call it the ‘gator’) at each end that holds up to three weight plates in place. The plates simply slide on the bar and lock into place on the gator. When you need to change plates, you just pull the release lever and slide them off, making transitions fast and seamless. Because plate changeovers are much quicker and easier, group fitness participants can try a heavier weight until fatigued, reduce their weight in the middle of a set and pick up where they left off, without missing more than a couple of reps. That means they’ll get stronger faster and see better results.

Smoother movement = better form Another feature of the Les Mills SMARTBARTM that improves the quality of a workout is the rotating gators. The rotation of the weight plates means the movement of the bar up and down feels even and smooth, helping to maintain good form, which in turn gives better results.

ergONOmIC DeSIgN FOr bEttEr rEsults Regular weight plates are awkward to hold, so wrist and finger muscles fatigue before targeted muscles like shoulders or triceps. SMARTBARTM weight plates have ergonomic handles, making them more like dumbbells. Being easy to grip, people can handle heavier weights and fatigue their target muscles. The natural grip position also means injuries are less likely.
EasiEr TO STep up A LeveL The weight plate handles allow people to hold two plates in one hand, giving them more options, e.g., instead of jumping from 5.5lb (2.5kg) to 11lb (5kg) they can get there in smaller steps using the 1kg (2.2lb) plate, so they can increase their weights sooner and get stronger, faster.
