30 years as F2 have taught us the importance of having loyal partners by your side, supporting you through both good and difficult times. A lot of time has passed and many goals have been accomplished. We are very proud to be celebrating 30 successful years of boardsports today! The 80s
The 00s
Following the idea of “F2 Fun & Function“, Peter Brockhaus, Klaus Dreher and Jürgen Hönscheid become founders of the brand. The first windsurfboards are introduced at the ISPO in Munich and the new brand awakens unanticipated interest with its customers. Fuelled by its success in the windsurfing sector, F2 chooses to move into a new market.
F2 developes the successful Airbase system - the newest innovation in snowboarding. Its sub-label FTWO is launched and teamriders Stefan Gimpl and Manuela Peszko win the first halfpipe Worldcup titles. With the revised airbase system and the 3 Decades, F2 set another mileston during its 30-year history.
At the end of the 80s, alpine snowboards entered the market and also looked very promising. In 1987, for the first time ever, Tom Ratzek won a title riding an F2 snowboard!
F2 Today The 90s The pressure on the snowboarding industry begins to rise, and since F2 has established a reputation as the leading Worldcup brand, it was time to enter the bindings market. With their patented Proflex binding systems for soft and hardboots, F2 was the first brand to offer a complete alpine set-up. Thanks to its teamriders Mathieu Bozzetto, Ross Rebagliati and Heidi Renoth, F2 also managed to claim its first olympic victories.
Today, F2 is a leading manufacturer in alpine snowboarding. Particularly the Proto Series, introduced in 2010, which is packed with innovative features and newest technologies, has set high performance standards at the Worldcup. This enabled young talent Christian Hupfauer to get his first Junior Vice World Championship on an F2 board. Thanks to their close cooperation with their teamriders, F2 can offer full performance for all kinds of levels. But also the brand‘s sub-label FTWO, founded in 2008 as a freestyle brand, shines through its successful teamriders. Japanese female rider Hikaru Ohe claimed gold at the Junior Winter Olympics in 2012 at the age of only 17! The new model of the Airbase System, packed with 30 years of testing and experience, has been the absolute pride of the range for the past 3 decades. Alongside the brand‘s variety of successes within the snowboarding business, F2 is also still at the forefront of the windsurfing scene. In 2011, Belgian rider Steven Van Broeckhoven won the world title in freestyle windsurfing on his F2 Rodeo!
