Upgraded Ford Safety Features for the 2015 Mustang The Ford Motor Company has given new car buyers something to look forward to in the 2015 model year. The new Ford Mustang will come with a list of safety feature upgrades that make it a leader in safety and innovation. With 15 patents already granted, Ford is proving that it still has a few tricks up its sleeve, even 50 years after the first Mustang hit the market. This new model, loaded with new features, will arrive at Indianapolis Ford dealers including Bloomington Ford later this year. Here's a closer look at everything this classic American sports car has to offer in the new model year. One of the most interesting changes to the Mustang's safety feature lineup is the glove box knee air bag. This more efficient take on the traditional air bag helps to provide the safety needed in a crash without taking up as much space. A bladder that sits behind the glove box panel inflates and moves forward toward the passenger's knees to provide cushion and protection where it is needed most. Its compact design allows the bladder to sit between the two layers of the glove box door, undetectable until a crash is detected by the car's sensors. Ford has also overhauled its sensor system for its air bags and safety equipment, making the sensors more intuitive when a crash has occurred. This revamped system will provide better protection and accurate air bag deployment. The overall number of air bags found in the Mustang has been doubled for the 2015 model year to provide ultimate protection, which is essential in a car designed for speed, power, and performance. The 2015 Mustang will include the passenger knee air bag, driver and passenger seat-mounted air bags and front air bags, and a driver knee air bag. In the fastback edition, there are two side-curtain air bags. Drivers who buy the Mustang convertible get two head air bags that are seat-mounted for additional protection. This is a particularly good move, as many convertibles are often lacking in safety equipment due to the nature of the car’s design. Of course, air bags aren't the only safety features drivers will find on the 2015 Ford Mustang. An enhanced exterior lighting system provides better visibility for night driving, and safety belt anchor pretensioners help to secure the driver and passenger safely in the vehicle. Combined with the new sensors and enhanced air bags, the Mustang is safer than ever while still delivering the body style, engine, and speed that drivers have come to expect from this supercharged sports car. Prospective buyers can take a closer look at all the new safety features when they visit Indianapolis Ford dealers later this year. Ford's dedication to innovation and design is more than apparent, and the new Mustang provides the peace of mind that many driving enthusiasts have long hoped for in their muscle cars. From new, lightweight air bags to enhanced lighting, the 2015 Ford Mustang delivers a safe and fast ride that will delight new car buyers in the coming years.
