Roll up it’s festival time This weekend sees the Renwick Community Festival of Wheels revving into action at 11am on Sunday morning at the Renwick Recreation Grounds. For the littlies there are battery operated karts (0-12 years), face painting, Young Farmers with young animals and bouncy castles for all ages including the Octopus and Maze. Kids, bring down your bikes for free cycle checks with Avanti Cycles then ride the Sport Marlborough cycle maze. Holden vs Ford tug-of-wars will happen every hour from
12noon with Holden and Ford fans facing off against each other, and remember to check out the Fire Station and the engines inside. While wandering about the grounds, remember to take a tour through the Giesen Sports & Events Centre and check out the model vehicle display. This year there will be techno Lego models, a moving train set and battery operated diggers. Got It Covered has a treat in store with an area of the centre decked out in wedding mode. Watch displays throughout the
day from sports teams – and try your hand at the new cricket nets with the Renwick Cricket Club, while parents and grandparents can check out the Life Education Trust mobile classroom and the Drug Arm Van. Plenty of vehicles, large and small, agricultural and two wheeled, classic and vintage, in restoration mode and fully finished and gleaming! A LOVE FOR WHEELS: Blenheim man Ashley Toms will have his impressive Lego Technic collection on display in the Giesen Sports & Events Centre at the Festival of Wheels this Sunday. Ashley has been building and collecting Lego Technic from the age of 10.
