Students appeal for funding Six Marlborough Boys College students are preparing to knuckle down in a bid to raise enough money to fund their Spirit of Adventure voyage starting on April 26. The 5-Day Spirit Trophy, run by the Spirit of Adventure Trust, sees four groups of year ten students from schools around New Zealand compete against each other in a range of activities. Four of the year ten students from the Marlborough Boys’ College team have gained funding, but the remaining six members [Jonathan Cash, Leiam Hartley, Alex Hill, Keegan Lane, Hayden Nott, and Logan Silcock] are now appealing to anyone who may be able to provide them with work.

The college’s assistant head of faculty in technology Giles Lancaster says the school will also likely organise fundraising events such as sausage sizzles to assist the students in their efforts. The teams on the Spirit of Adventure boat will accumulate points through tasks including teamwork, problem solving, ship handling and aquatic sports, with the team with the most points being crowned the winner. The competing schools were selected by ballot in October last year.
