Sunday brunch For people looking for somewhere to wind down and relax after the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival, Hunter’s Garden Café has put together a special Brunch and Bubbles event together for Sunday. The Brunch and Bubbles was previously held on New Year’s Day and proved to be hugely popular, so staff are hoping for another successful event. Café manager Sabine Lux says people can come and relax in the garden, enjoy delicious food and good company. “People were so happy and really enjoyed themselves the last time. It gives us an opportunity to give people a taste of what is on our menu and they can also visit the cellar
door,” she says. The Brunch and Bubbles consists of a buffet style setting and a glass of Hunter’s MiruMiru for $36 per person. The buffet is available from 11am - 2pm and includes the following: • Scrambled eggs • Bacon • Pancakes • Platters of cold meats, cheese and salmon • Salads • Hot meats • Fresh fruit • Chocolate fountain. Nestled between Hunter’s entrance and the cellar door, Hunter’s Garden Café is open to welcome locals and visitors. The café is in its third year since it was relaunched with a simple yet clever concept of serving tasting platters and nibbles along with a selection of wines to sample. Owner Jane Hunter says people can relax and enjoy some light meals or simply treat themselves to a coffee and muffin. There is a children’s play area outside and plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax in. The cafe has a mouth watering selection of platters to choose from that are great to share, and can be plated for larger groups.
They include: • Cheese • Mixed meats • Hot smoked King Salmon • Children’s option The platters have been designed to be light, full of flavour and perfect alongside a glass of Hunter’s wines. For people seeking something a little more filling there are a a number of other tasty dishes to choose from from mini pizzas and the Hunter’s salad, through to paninis and a tasty pie. New to the menu this year is the addition of German sausage products. The Swiss Brat sausage served with coleslaw and fries is looking to be a popular choice for diners as well as the Fleisch Kase, which translates as ‘meat cheese’. This dish has two steak
shaped pieces of pork sausage that look like swiss cheese and are also served with coleslaw, fries, mustard and tomato sauce. To finish lunch on a sweet note there is the decadent chocolate brownie and icecream with a selection of toppings, or go for the warmer and equally tempting option of the Hunter’s Affogato. Of course any dining experience at Hunter’s Garden Café is not complete without the Hunter’s Wine Flight. Select three wines from the list provided and sample what Hunter’s does best Winemaking!
