Domestic Heat Recovery Ventilation

MVHR Heat Recovery Ventilation Kits

What is MVHR and how does it work?

MVHR or Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery is a green ventilation solution designed for airtight homes. Blauberg’s MVHR extracts stale, dirty air and delivers fresh, filtered air back into your living space.

Unlike traditional ventilation solutions, Blauberg systems have an added benefit: up to 92% of the warm air present in your home will be recovered.

You may be thinking two things: does it heat my home? Is it an air conditioning unit?

The short answer to both questions is, no.

MVHR doesn’t ‘heat’ your home in the traditional sense. The warm, stale air is extracted and passed through a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger transfers this heat to the fresh air supply from outside, then it’s supplied into your house as fresh, warm air.

As for air conditioning, MVHR filters your air but does not cool down your property. However, we do offer a cooler as an add-on, which offers whole house cooling (of up to 7 degrees) which you can discuss with our engineer.

Why is MVHR needed?

As technology advances, houses are becoming more airtight and require ventilation. Added to this, homeowners are becoming more climate conscious.

The average house produces six litres of water each day, largely in the form of steam, which you don’t want to keep contained in your house.

Blauberg’s MVHR systems bridge the gap between mechanical ventilation and true energy efficiency.
