RCMP execute search warrant on Mission home Police seized more than 2,700 marijuana plants from a Mission home last week. RCMP officers with Federal Serious and Organized Crime executed a search warrant on Aug. 14 at a property in the 32800 block of Cameron Avenue and found a significant marijuana grow operation. The search came as part of an investigation into the illegal inter-provincial shipping of marijuana in which packages of up to 50 pounds were sent through courier businesses. When officers entered the

property, they found 2,717 plants in various stages of growth in 12 rooms in a residence and a business. Four people were located inside, none of whom were the registered owner. All have been released as the investigation continues. “In this particular instance, the property owner did have a licence to grow medicinal marijuana, but the sheer number of plants we located grossly out-numbered what was legally permitted,” said Supt. Richard Bergevin,

officer in charge of major projects with the RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime. “Unfortunately, despite new legislation, there are still criminals looking to profit from illegal grow-ops and distribution of marijuana.” The property, and everything located on it, has been referred to the Civil Forfeiture Office for review. The property has now been deemed uninhabitable due to the extensive damage caused by the grow operation.

A man who was charged in relation to a stabbing incident in Mission over a year ago has been sentenced. Kyle Kollman, 33, of Port Coquitlam had been charged with aggravated assault but

pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of assault causing bodily harm. He has been in custody since his arrest on May 3, 2018, and was sentenced on Aug. 16 in Abbotsford provincial court to time served and two years’ probation. Kollman also received a lifetime

weapons ban. On the day of his arrest, Mission RCMP received a report that a person had been stabbed and was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The attack took place outside the victim’s residence and involved

Kollman and someone he knew. At the time, police said the altercation was believed to have revolved around “historical matters” between the two. Kollman was located and arrested in Coquitlam later that day.
