Laverne (Vern) Bauer of Abbotsford, BC passed away peacefully at home on February 16th, 2015 at the age of 77. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, five children from a beautiful blended family Kelly, Marla, Steve (Joyce), Greg (Tiffany) and Michael (Lili), eight grandchildren Erik, Alana, Parker, Harrison, Cassia, Keanna, Natasha and Alex, sisters Pauline, Bev, Carol, Sandy and Wendy and brothers Owen and Alex. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy, his son Scott and his grandson David. He was born in Leader, Saskatchewan on March 23, 1937 and later moved to British Columbia where he completed his schooling and began his career in the custom upholstery and mattress making business and was co-owner for many years of Royal City Bedding in New Westminster and Interior Cushion and Mattress in Penticton, BC. Vern will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his great generosity and his care and concern for his family and friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful medical team who supported Vern through his courageous battle with cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Greyling, Dr. Zulfiquar and the medical oncology team at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre for the wonderful care and support they provided. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:00 am at South Abbotsford MB Church, 32424 Huntingdon Road, Abbotsford, BC, with Dan Nicholson officiating and a reception to follow. It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and greatgrandmother, Eunice May Black on February 9, 2015 in Abbotsford, BC. She was 79. Eunice will always be loved and missed by her husband of 60 years Vic, daughter Lynn (Charley), son Dan (Angela), sister Wynne, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Eunice lived her life believing that family is where life begins and love never ends. This was evident in who she was; through the many friends she cared for and valued, and the closeness of her family she created. The family will not be having a service. Should family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to JDRF; Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
FRIESEN Annie Lillie Annie passed away peacefully in the presence of her Lord on February 15, 2015 with her family at her side. She is survived by her children, Will (Glenna), Val (Ross), Bruce (Sylvia), Lorne (Glenda), 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Annie’s life was characterized by generosity, love and care for her family and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford, BC. Passed away peacefully on Feb 11, 2015 at the age of 92, into the waiting arms of Jesus. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Walter Martens, 5 children and their spouses, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. LEHN Eric Eric Lehn late of Abbotsford passed away on February 11, 2015 at age 57 years. He was born on April 6, 1957 in Winnipeg, MB. Eric leaves behind his loving wife Kathy, children Jason, Amanda (John) Hinam, parents Katherine and Arndt Lehn, Helen and Peter Nickel, brothers Gord (Merle), Phil (Jayne), sisters Carolyn, Patricia (John), Barbara (Garry), Ruth (Ed), Louise (Dexter), aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Eric spent many years teaching in SD #34, most recently at Yale Senior Secondary where he taught Auto Mechanics. He was passionate about serving his Lord and Savior, his family and students. His love of old cars was a favourite hobby and he enjoyed restoring Nash Metropolitans. Eric will be remembered for his optimism, courage and perseverance. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 am from Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Rd. Abbotsford. NIKKEL Kathy (nee Froese) Dec. 24, 1959 ~ Feb. 10, 2015
Jesus came to earth to take Kathy home to be with her Heavenly Father, to be with her infant daughter, Angela, and her parents. Her heart was full of love for her family and her friends here on earth and now her heart is healed in Heaven. She will be forever missed by her husband, Ron Nikkel, of 35 years and her 4 sons, Chris (Heather), grandchildren, Marissa, Erik, Caitlin and Eva; Adam (Luba), grandson, Timosha; Curtis and Andrew. She is also survived by her siblings Rudy (Louise) Froese, Erv (Bev) Froese, Dorothy Kirby, Norma (Hank) Bergen, Dan (Dawn - Leigh) Froese, Marlene (Larry) Siebert, in-laws: Hulda Nikkel, Shirley and Larry Buhler, Carol and Roy Unger and Elfrieda Nikkel and many, many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed and remembered by her many close friends and her “adopted” daughters. She was predeceased by Angela (infant daughter) and her parents, John and Mary Froese, as well as Abe Nikkel, Henry Nikkel, Evelyn Wiens (Nikkel). Gloria Rose (Dornian) Hiebert, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 4, 1943 in Langley, British Columbia, the daughter of Steve and Mary Dornian. Gloria married Cliff Hiebert on October 8, 1965 in Abbotsford, British Columbia and they remained in Abbotsford for the rest of her life. Ena was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for her family and friends. Born in Rosenfeld, Manitoba, married in Winnipeg on July 13, 1932, and then moved to Langley in 1969 and celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Langley, in 1982. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. (Ernie) Phelps in May, 1983. She passed away at Dogwood Lodge, under the loving care of the staff. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Holloway of Vancouver, and two sons, Donald Phelps (Bonnie) of St. Catharines, Ont., James Phelps of Chilliwack, BC. Also, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, W. Jean Holloway (Jim), James & Andrew. Pamela Holloway. Tom, Shawn, Sarah Phelps. Zeke, Tara & Kaijah, A. J. & Karen Phelps. Also, members in church and with the sewing circle, ladies group. She was known for her talent in sewing almost anything, and for being a wonderful cook and hostess.
