BAKER

ANDERSON Richard 1949 ~ 2015 It saddens us to announce the passing of Richard on January 2, 2015, a loving husband, father and brother. Richard passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia, sons Gerald (Sarah) and Matthew (Christina), brother Robert (Valerie) and sister Myrna. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Matthew Anglican Church located at 2010 Guilford Dr., Abbotsford, BC with Father Allen Doerksen officiating. In lieu of flowers we would ask that you make a donation to St. Matthew Anglican Church located at 2010 Guilford Drive, Abbotsford.

ISAAK Abram Ernie Abram Ernie Isaak passed away on December 24, 2014. Born on May 9, 1934 in Yarrow, BC, Ernie was the youngest of nine. Ernie founded his own trucking and bobcat business which he operated for 38 years. He loved to sing solos or in quartets and choirs. He is predeceased by his wife, Marianne Isaak, and leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Rita, a daughter Dianne and four grandsons: Matthew, Marc, Luc and John. A celebration of life will be held at Green Gables, 32044 Old Yale Road, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 17th.

STACHIW Randy Passed away December 25, 2014. He is survived by his dad Edward Stachiw, siblings Terry Stachiw and Darlys Hood, nieces and nephews.

Passed away on January 1, 2015 at Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 103 years. He was born on October 10, 1911 in Elstow, Saskatchewan. Lyall was predeceased by his wife, Violet Baker, and daughters Ruth and June Baker. He is survived by son Charles (Marza) Baker, grandsons; Terry Schuetz, Robert Baker (Andrea Donaldson), and Trevor Baker, great-grandchildren; Braeden, Jorden and Cassandra Schuetz and Theo Baker. Lyall owned a refrigeration business in Aldergrove, BC. He retired in 1973. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery, 33965 Maclure Road, Abbotsford. Reception will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford, following the graveside service. Online condolences to the family may be made at:

BACH, Vicky (née Pulver) R.N., M.Sc., GNC(C). Peacefully, at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, after a two year struggle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Beloved wife of Joshua. Cherished mother of Sarah (Andrew) and Eva. Loving sister Molly Ungar (Bob). Loving sister-in-law of Kala Solway (Steve), and David Bach (Judy). Dear aunt and cousin. Devoted daughter of the late Naiman and the late Hana Pulver. Vicky was a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Medicine, at Fraser Health (BC), an expert in gerontology, medicine, and palliative care, and was regularly consulted by health practitioners and leaders at all levels. Her research on an Acute Ischemic Stroke Care Path has been included by the World Health Organization in their library. Funeral service took place on Sunday from Paperman & Sons, Montreal. LOWEN Marie Katherine Passed away December 22, 2014 at Jackman Manor in Aldergrove, BC. Marie was predeceased by husband Rudolph Lowen, who died February 9, 2012 and parents Marcel and Katherine Boichat. She is survived by daughter Anne (Carl) of Kamloops, son Ritchie (Kim) of Surrey and 4 grandchildren, Dillon, Dalton, Maranda and Janessa. Graveside tribute for Marie and Rudy will be held January 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at Hazelwood Cemetery, 34070 Hazelwood Ave., Abbotsford. KLASSEN Allan Walter Allan Walter Klassen late of Abbotsford, BC, passed away on January 2, 2015 at the age of 83 at Royal Columbian Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; sons, Brian (Shonnon), Bruce and daughter, Marilyn; grandchildren, Randi, and Trent; as well as extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; 4 siblings; and daughter, Melody Grace. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Clearbrook M.B. DE JONG Geertruid It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma, Mrs. Geertruid (Truus) De Jong, late of Abbotsford, BC who passed away after a short illness, on January 3, 2015 at the age of 81 at Christine Morrison Hospice. She is survived by: Victor (Beryl), Dan (Ann), Tina (Martin) Houweling, Irene (Albert) DeLange, John (Louise), Wayne (Marlene), Mariann (Jason) Valstar, 26 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, John. Knowing fully that her hope and strength was in her Lord and Savior Jesus, she was filled with peace and courage during her one month hospital stay. Mom was born June 25, 1933 to Dirk and Minka Vanderklok in the Netherlands, the first of 6 children. The family immigrated to Canada in August 1952. She met our Dad in Ladner, where they married and had 7 children. They farmed in Ladner until April 1973 and then purchased their own farm in Deroche, BC. Our Dad, John passed away in 1979 and Mom continued farming for a number of years then moved to Abbotsford and had many wonderful years with her community at Cascade Court. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Living Hope Christian Reformed Church at 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, BC, with Pastor Dan Tielmann officiating. Interment was held at Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Truus (Geertruid) may be made to Christine Morrison Hospice. Zelma Agnes

1923 ~ 2015

Zelma Nickel passed into the presence of the Lord on December 31, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She was born July 15, 1926 in Lucky Lake, SK, the oldest of 9 children. She was predeceased by her brother Elmer in 1943 and her parents Bernhard K. Sawatzky in 1973 and Mary Sawatzky (Krahn) 1989. She is survived by her husband John B. Nickel, sons John (Charlotte) Nickel and Elmer (Ricka) Nickel, six grandchildren; Tanya (Don) Coghill, Chad (Tracy) Nickel, Kevin Nickel, Ashley Nickel (Kris Por), Meghan (Trevor) Brown, Courtney (Steve) Klassen, five great grandchildren; Tyler Coghill, Reilley Coghill, Koah Klassen, Davis Klassen and Sadie Brown, as well as seven siblings and their spouses, one sister-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., in Abbotsford on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A celebration of Zelma’s life will be held at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road in Abbotsford on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:30 pm. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the Menno Home for their incredible care of Zelma as well as to Dr. M. Campbell who went beyond the call of duty in caring for our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.B. Missions in Zelma’s memory.

Robert (Bob) Johnston late of Menno Home passed away on January 2nd, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Bob was predeceased by his wife Erna in November of 2013, by his parents Thomas and Jean Johnston, and brothers Norman and John Johnston. He is survived by his daughter Darlene (Bruce) Glum, his son Robert and grandchildren Matthew, Rebekah and Sarah. He is also survived by two nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. in Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford. REMPEL Barbara (Friesen) Barbara (Friesen) Rempel of Mission, BC went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2015. She was born in Speers, Saskatchewan April 30, 1929 to David and Barbara Friesen along with 2 brothers and 3 sisters. She married William (Bill) Rempel in 1947 and had 6 children. Most of her adult life was spent in Mission raising her family, serving the Lord in the church, working as a volunteer for MCC and visiting family and friends. She loved to travel to see relatives and was a great host to those who returned the visit. Barbara was predeceased by Bill in 1968. She was also predeceased by an infant son, her parents, brothers Jake and Isaac and sister Betty and many in-laws. She is survived by daughters Connie (Dan) Schubert and Debbie (Wayne) Perry and sons Rob, Phil (Elsie), and Dan (Linda), brother David Friesen, sister Sarah Bueckert, sister-in-law Mary Nickel, 16 grandchildren and spouses, 26 great grandchildren and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home 7386 Horne Street, Mission on Wednesday, January 8th from 6:30 8:00 pm. Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, January 9th at Hatzic Cemetery 34867 Cemetery Road, Mission, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church 32840 Janzen Avenue, Mission.
