Mom was a much loved and respected member of the Quesnel Community, a dedicated mother and grandmother, and a mom to many of our friends as well. Mom had many friends in Quesnel and was active as a volunteer in many organizations. Mom was born on August 25, 1925 in Truax, Saskatchewan, one of 13 children born to Dan and Rachael Popp. Growing up on the farm, mom wore many hats and she was very proud of becoming a “darn good farmhand,” to her father during the war when 5 of her brothers were serving overseas. After a whirlwind romance, Don and Zana were married on December 17, 1946 at the family farm at Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. They pre-empted a quarter section of land and started farming near Erwood, Saskatchewan. Their first four children were born here, Sharon, 1947, Char 1950 and Peggy & Penny 1952.
