The 19-year-old former team captain, who was the club’s highest scoring player last year with 40 points in 44 games (15 goals and 25 assists), said he was looking forward to the next phase of his career. “I grew up around Port Moody, so being able to play for and captain my hometown team was a great honour,” he said. “I’m very proud to commit to a post-secondary education and collegiate hockey in such a wellrespected league like the BCIHL as a Panthers alumni.” The Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey product was also named Panthers Most Valuable Player at the team’s end of season awards. Overall, Schoenefuhs finishes his junior hockey career with 22 goals and 36 assists for 58 points in 82 games. “Wolfgang is an outstanding player and person,” said Panthers general manager Frank Iantorno. “Wolfgang’s great attitude, tireless work ethic and leadership abilities will serve him well as he makes the jump to collegiate hockey.” The University of Victoria is entering its
