PEARCE, Dorothy Elena Margaret (nee Jonsson) (November 23, 1932 - August 8, 2014)

Dorothy passed away peacefully in Qualicum Beach, BC. Honoured to have had her in their lives are: her brother Russell Jonsson (Rosemary), her children Sandra Somerville (Harvey), Ric Pearce (Christine), Christina Smith (Dan) along with her grandchildren, Dana, Ryan (Christina), Paul (Crystal), Janelle, Nadine, Meghan (Kyle), Carmen (Dylan), Evan, Challayne (Rob), Braden, and her great-grandchildren, Jalen, Zachary, Dylan, Silas, Blaise, Kinslea, Samara, Quinn, Lincoln, and Lachlan. She is pre-deceased by her sister-in-law June Jonsson, loving husband of 55 years, Raymond “Buster� Pearce and her parents Margaret and Jon Jonsson. Dorothy was born in Prince Rupert, B.C. She was raised in Osland on Smith Island, as well as Prince Rupert and Richmond. Dorothy married Buster in 1952 and started their family in Richmond, living briefly in Calgary before settling back into Richmond. Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker and wife who prided herself on raising three wonderful children. After retiring, Dorothy and Buster travelled throughout North America in their motor home, eventually settling in Parksville. Her favourite past times were; fishing, playing crib, baking, crabbing, and sitting around a table sharing a meal. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving woman who always had a hug, a homemade blanket, or an emphatic “I love you� for those around her. Her spirit and devotion to family will remain with us forever. Dorothy’s family is very grateful for the kindness and caring given to Mom by the staff at Qualicum Manor and Dr. Carey Sulz and also to Evy for her heartfelt care. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:30 am at St. Andrews Anglican Church in Sidney, BC, followed by a celebration of Dorothy’s life at 1 pm at The Sidney Pier Hotel, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. or Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

DONNA ALEXANDER 1946 - 2014 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Donna Joyce Alexander, age 68, on Friday August 22, 2014 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after bravely battling a series of chronic conditions. Donna was known for her stoic attitude and her fight to remain with her family. She leaves behind her loved ones: Doug Alexander, her daughters Bonnie Slamen (John) and Darlene Alexander (Wayne). She will also be dearly missed by sister-in-law Diane Alexander and brothers-in-law Ron Towle and Ted Alexander, nieces and nephews and their families, as well as the Halverson family and the Slamen family. She will be especially missed by her only beloved granddaughter Macey Slamen whom she called her little “Princess�. She was predeceased by her mother Merna, her brother-in-law Darrel Alexander, sister-in-law Darlene Towle, father and mother-in law George and Daphne Alexander. Donna was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to British Columbia when she was a small child, she later met and married Doug Alexander living in Richmond, B.C. where she raised her daughters. She later started a family day care in her home where she cared for and loved more children. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Donna moved to Bowser, B.C. in 1981. After moving to the Island she finally got her driver’s license at 40-something and started a small career in waitressing. She loved her many cats and dogs, she enjoyed going shopping and her coffee!! Thank you to all the staff at the Renal Unit at NRGH where she had been receiving dialysis for nearly the last 2 years. A special thank you to Dr. Anthony Booth, one of the many specialists, whom delivered her care and whom she spoke so very highly of. Also thank you to Bonnie from Granny Go-Go, and staff, for your caring attention to our mother as well as the wonderful organization “Wheels for Wellness� who also drove her to appointments. A private family burial will be held on Thurs Sept 4, 2014 followed by a celebration of family and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the volunteer organization “Wheels for Wellness�. You will be forever in our hearts. We love you Mom.

ANNE BEAUCHAMP November 30, 1954 – August 13, 2014

With much love we say goodbye to Anne. She fought a lengthy illness with dignity and courage. Left with many happy memories of better times are her beloved partner Carol Hirst; Mom Florine; brothers Jack (Anne), Russell (Cheryl); niece Jackie Lynn (Lorne); nephew Rene (Bobbi); great nieces and nephews Jaylin, Brooke, Sheldon and Aubrey; extended family members and a host of friends. Anne will be remembered for her artistic sense in her business, Whisper Beach Framing, her active involvement with slo-pitch softball, her volunteer work with Haven Transition House, and movie nights with friends. Her gentle, caring manner and love for family and friends will be remembered and missed. A Celebration of Life will be held September 20th, 11 a.m. at the Parksville Community & Conference Centre, 132 E. Jensen Avenue, Parksville. Refreshments will be served following the memorial. Special thanks to Dr. John Carr, Dr. R. Maccari, the caring staff in the Palliative Care Unit of NRGH and to Anne & Pam from Victoria. Donations in lieu of flowers are appreciated and can be made to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation. Please indicate the donation is to go to Oceanside Palliative Care. GLINES, Martha Johanna February 4, 1927 – Pincher Creek, AB August 19, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Martha Johanna Glines passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at the Brentwood Care Centre, Calgary, Alberta at the age of 87 years. Born February 4th, 1927 in Pincher Creek, Alberta, Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Martha married Grant Glines in Pincher Creek on October 19th, 1949. In 1956 they moved to Calgary and continued to raise their five children. When Grant retired, they moved to Parksville, BC, where they lived for several years. About two years after Grant’s passing December 15th, 2001, Martha moved to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, where her daughter Eleanor lives. When her health began to fail, the family moved her to a care facility in Calgary. Martha was very devoted to her family. She is lovingly survived by her children Linda (Jeff), Bonnie, Eleanor (Mitch), Janet (Rick) and Scott (Susan); her grandchildren Jennifer, Tyler, Dana, Chad, Cory and Kristin; her great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Austen, Kendra, Grant, Gwenfryn and Marcus; as well as sisters Adeline Sorge, Edna Drevenak, Dorothea Cyr, Helen Nelson and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 893 East Ave, Pincher Creek, Alberta, with Pastor Craig officiating; graveside service following at 1:00 PM. Martha’s remains will be buried next to her parents in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Please forward condolences through www.hffs.com.
