APPLEBY Brian It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great grandfather Brian Appleby. Born September 15, 1927 in Mission, son of Randolph and Irene Appleby, passed away in his sleep August 2, 2014 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in his 86th year. Predeceased by the love of his life Audrie in 2009. He leaves behind three children, Craig (Jackie), Doug (Jo) and Elizabeth, 4 grandchildren; Curtis (Danyel), Chris (Jenny), Victoria and James, 5 great grandchildren; Seth, Rome, Aria, Madi and David, his loving sister Diana, numerous relatives and friends. Brian was raised and lived most of his life in Dewdney. Upon completing university he spent 5 years with the experimental farm services in Prince George then returned back to farm in Dewdney, at that time completed courses to become a secondary school teacher. Brian taught in Mission and Abbotsford for a total of 28 years. Primarily counseling in Mission in his latter years. He spent 15 years as a Fraser Valley Regional Director, 13 years as a hospital board member and also Life Time Learning member. Brian enjoyed curling and travelling. He spent his last five years at Cedar’s assisted living in Mission, where he enjoyed wonderful company and would often be seen enjoying the piano, playing cards or bringing his sense of humour to the table where he enjoyed coffee with friends. Special thank you to the staff at the Cedar’s for all your kindness and care over the last 5 years, Dr. Kornelsen, his staff, the MMH laboratory and to the emergency ward at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. We would love all who knew Brian to come and join the family in a celebration of his life. Bring your stories! CHARLONG Rose Adeline (Lindalh) Dec. 9, 1933 ~ Aug. 13 2014
In loving memory of Rose Adeleine Charlong (Lindahl) a dear wife, mother, mormor, sister, aunt, and friend of many. We rejoice that she has arrived safely into the arms of her dear Heavenly Father. Rose is survived by her loving husband Chuck of 58 ½ years, children, Cheryl (Glenn), Earl (Audrey), Laurel (Dan), Adele (Jay), grandchildren, Brooklyn, Krista, Cynthia (Nathan), Gregg, Derek, Jared, Liam, Shaymus, Matthew, Vanessa, Jeremy, family and friends. To all she met, she loved and accepted with open arms, desiring that all would come to know God. Thank you to the Mission Hospital staff for their kind care given to Rose. A Celebration will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly, 32729 Seventh Ave., Mission BC on Sunday, August 17th at 3pm. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
HEIJSTER Ed Nov. 10, 1951 ~ Aug. 8, 2014
Ed Heijster passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 62. Predeceased by his father Hank, he is survived by his wife, Lory and four children, Stephen (Julie) Heijster, Gary (Theresa) Heijster, Kristina (Jordan) Mohle, Kelsey (Justin) McCurdy, his mother, Cornelia Heijster and two sisters, Louise (John) Veenhof and Regina Kinnear. Ed was born in the Netherlands in 1951 and immigrated with his family to Richmond where he grew up. With his wife and children he has lived in Surrey, Delta, Salmon Arm and Abbotsford. He volunteered with Scouts Canada as a leader and as president of the Salmon Arm Lacrosse Association. He loved camping, old cars and working around the house. Ed was a loving husband and wonderful father. His loss will be felt by all who knew him. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at Cascade Community Church, 35190 Delair Road in Abbotsford on August 22nd at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the BC Transplant Research Foundation. Our heartfelt thanks to the Emergency and Cardiac Care staff at Abbotsford Hospital and to Dr. Kanji, Tina, Debbie and all the staff in ICU at Royal Columbian Hospital for their compassionate care.

McGREGOR Elda Elda Adelia McGregor, aged 86 years, passed away peacefully at Christine Morrison Hospice on August 6, 2014. She is lovingly remembered by son Cameron (Mandy), daughters Cynthia and Leslie-Ann, grandsons Jason, Ian and Jeff, granddaughters Becky (Clint), Madison and Devin, as well as many relatives and friends. HUIZING, Tina
Lindsay 1936 ~ 2014 Lindsay was released from his courageous battle with cancer on August 9th. He leaves behind his wife Gill, children; Andrew, Sue, Anita, Joanne, Jenn and Tim, 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his sister Wendy Smith. Our hearts are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support over the past 6 months. We appreciated the sensitive care from the neurosurgeon Dr. Frangou and nursing staff at the Royal Columbian Hospital, and the dedicated Palliative Care Team who enabled Lindsay to stay at home, the Tertiary Staff at the MSA Hospital and intensive compassionate service at Mission Hospice. The pharmacists at Shoppers Drug Mart at SevenOaks must be mentioned for their personal support throughout his illness. All the acts of kindness, gifts and cards from Lindsay’s treasured friends helped him through til the end. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 18th at 1:00 pm at Grace Church 2087 McMillan Rd, followed by a reception in the church hall.

MURPHY Michael John March 9, 1959 ~ July 7, 2014
Mike took his final fishing trip on July 7, 2014 on Kinbasket Lake at the Mica Dam. Mike was born in Windsor, ON March 9, 1959. After graduating high school Mike moved to the Columbia Valley, BC in 1979. Mike met his wife in 1981 and they were married in 1983 in Invermere, BC. The family moved to Vancouver in 1985, where Mike finished his apprenticeship and became a journeyman Electrician. Over the past 28 years Mike has worked on many projects and had risen from journeyman to superintendent on his last project, Mica Dam. On his down time Mike enjoyed golfing, fishing and working on many projects at the family home. Mike enjoyed travelling to Thailand, which he called his second home. What Mike enjoyed most was his time at home with his family. He is sadly missed and survived by his wife of 31 years Val, and daughter Isabelle (Cody), his sons Leroy (Cecili), Richard and Curtis, his pride and joy were his grandson Odyn and granddaughter Miya. He is also survived by his parents Ed and Maxine Murphy of Windsor, ON, his brother Larry (Nancy) and sisters Liz (Dan) and Pam, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mike’s life will take place on Sunday, August 17th, at the Silverdale Community Hall, located at 8760 McLean Ave., Mission, BC from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Ralstons and Associates or Revelstoke Search and Rescue in Mike’s name. “May you always have your ass in the water, toes in the sand and a cold Leo beer in your hand.”
Tina (Styntje) Huizing (nee Van Nes ) was received into the glory of her Lord on August 7, 2014 in Abbotsford, BC. Tina was born March 17, 1931 in Rijsoord, Netherlands. She lived and worked in the Netherlands, earning her nursing training at VanderBergstichting, Bethesda and Eudokia in the Netherlands, working until 1958 when she moved to Alberta, Canada. Tina married Berend (Bert) Huizing on January 22, 1959 in the Netherlands. Shortly thereafter they returned to Canada to build their life there. Tina was passionate about her love for the Lord, her family, gardening, and animals. Mom was a great example of showing love to all creatures of our God and King, and was passionate about helping those for whom life was not easy, being a daily example of being the hands and feet of Jesus. She was very involved in working with the physically and mentally challenged throughout the years; providing respite, and forging loving friendships with so many. Tina is predeceased by her parents Flora and Klazina Van Nes, her siblings Annie Schop (Van Nes), Kees Van Nes, Dirk Van Nes and Bill Van Nes.
She is survived by her beloved husband Bert Huizing, and their children, Chris (Diana) Huizing, Phil (Karen) Huizing, Howard (Sarah) Huizing, Joy (Bart) Saathof, Marlene (Andreas) Kammenos; their grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Dudney, Joel Huizing, Megan Huizing, Amanda Huizing, Kari Huizing, Leah Saathof, Daniel Huizing, Bethany Saathof, Rebecca Huizing, Luke Saathof, Caleb Saathof, Nicholas Kammenos, Anna Kammenos, Joel Kammenos, Liam Huizing, Noah Huizing and Elijah Huizing, and their great grandchildren, Levi Dudney, Malachi Dudney and Hannah Dudney; also her honorary sons Sebastian (Anu) Naslund with their kids Asha and Jaiden and Zebulan Naslund. She is also survived by her sisters Corrie (Van Nes) Meyers and Hennie (Van Nes) Wubs. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 1 pm, at Living Hope CRC, 34631 Old Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, with Justin Dudney officiating. Graveside interment will be held at 11 am, August 14, at Hazelwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the wonderful Doctors and nurses who worked with Tina as she was treated for cancer, with special care to all the ER nurses at ARH who helped keep her as comfortable as possible in her last hours and supported our family. Special thanks to Dr. Milne for his love, concern and compassion shown to our Mom. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Covenant House in Tina’s honour.
