Woman charged with attempted murder
The accused and victim didn’t know each other, according to Cranbrook RCMP Sally MacDonald Townsman Staff
A 27-year-old Cranbrook woman has been charged with attempted murder over an incident on July 3. Kellie Lynn Stetski appeared via video in Cranbrook Provincial Court on Monday, July 14, charged with one count of attempted murder. She is being kept in custody in Alouette Correctional Centre for Women. Duty counsel Rick Strahl asked Judge Grant Sheard to put the case over to August
11 to fix a date for a bail hearing. RCMP were unable to release much information about the lead-up to Stetski’s arrest. Cst. Katie Forgeron said Cranbrook RCMP began investigation an alleged assault on July 3. “Our findings were discussed with Crown and that resulted in Crown laying a charge,” said Cst. Forgeron. “This was an isolated crime and the accused and victim did not know each other.” RCMP continue to work with Crown to investigate the incident. “We really can’t get into much more details at this time as it is before the courts and we don’t want to impact on the proceedings,” said Cst. Forgeron.
78 Golfers played in the 4th Annual Senior-Senior on Thursday July 10th at the Kimberley Golf Club. The Two Person Modified Scramble for players over the age of 55 saw Bob Payne and Jim Boudreau win the Men’s Open Class with a score of 62. Nancy Fraser and Sandy Peters took first place in the Ladies Open Class with a score of 81 and Karen Mummery and Chris Heinemann won the Couples Open Division with a score of 71. In the Net category, Wayne and Alice Bell took top honours in the Couples Class, Sandy Wilson and Lenore Gish won the ladies Only Class and Don Olderness and Ron Christenson won the Men’s Only Class. Len Robbins bested all other men and Sandy Nesbitt won the ladies in the Closest to the Pin contests. Dancing like butterflies above the Platzl Mike Redfern For the Bulletin
On Thursday evening, August 7, as the Kimberley Farmers’ Market closes on Howard Street, the Kimberley Community Band will strike up in the Platzl in front of the Spirit Rock Climbing Centre and a unique evening of band music and vertical dancing will begin. Dancer and choreographer Trina Rasmusen will bring new choreography to a vertical dance performance on the outer wall of the climbing centre where she and some of her dance students will perform a series of vertical vignettes, dancing like butterflies above the Platzl, interspersed with concert band pieces from the musicians below, together providing an hour-long performance of music and dance never seen before from 7.30
to 8.30 approximately. This is the fifth event in the eight-day Kimberley Kaleidoscope arts & culture festival that runs from August 2 to August 9, incorporating the First Saturday celebration of arts, culture & heritage on August 2, a family Picnic in the Park at Rotary Park with music and magic and children’s games on August 3, The Cromoli Brothers present Hello Kimberley! on August 4, a Painting Demo with wine & cheese on August 5, Wandering Wordsmythes poetry, prose, and music on August 6, the Vertical Dance concert on August 7, the 10th annual Arts on the Edge Gala Opening reception on August 8, and the traditional Arts on the Edge arts festival on August 9, concluding with an outdoor concert at Centre 64 by Calgary bluesman Donald Ray Johnson and his band.
